A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)
This is an entry level position where you will learn to become a machinist. You will assist machinist in the planning, layout, operation of machines to construct, repair, alter and finish a variety of parts. Work alongside a team of mechanics, machinists, weld technicians, inspectors, engineers and project managers to repair critical turbomachinery equipment. Work daily under direct guidance from experienced machinists, shop leadman and supervisor.


How You’ll Make an Impact (responsibilities)

  • Primary responsibility includes helping and learning how to operate machine shop equipment, to produce and repair parts from drawings using specialty measuring tools.
  • Work to be done following specific instructions from machinists, shop leads and supervisor.
  • Learn how to use hand-held tablet devices to record visual inspection findings, dimensional data and measurements, and photograph condition of equipment.
  • Safety is very important to our team - it is everyone’s duty to work safely, report any unsafe conditions, near misses, and make suggestions for improvement to shop leadership immediately.


What You Bring (requirements)

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1-3 years of work experience
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • A team player attitude, working well with others
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools
  • Teachable attitude, willing to learn and receive instruction
  • Humble disposition, able to take constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement
  • Strong work ethic, pursuing excellence and a high quality standard
  • Willingness to work overtime, alternate work schedule and 2nd shift (night shift) as needed (weekends and holidays may be occasionally required based on client schedules)

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
