Lead Quality Manager in Projects (QMiP)

Location - Newcastle/Hybrid


A Snapshot of Your Day

The Project Quality Manager (QMiP) is responsible for supporting and providing competent advice to the Project Director\Senior Project Manager in expediting quality assurance on projects. You will also manage and/or monitor the quality resource on the project. The QMiP is the subject matter authority on Quality Management related topics and assists in the planning of all key quality activity across the life cycle of the project. Further responsibilities as the Lead QMiP you be managing and supporting the quality team in your area of the business, which comprises of QMiPs and Quality Engineers.


How You’ll Make an Impact


Lead the Quality Team.
Act as an escalation point for QMiP relevant topics on projects.
Plan and handle quality assurance resources on current and future project within your assigned scope.
Monitor quality inspection resources.
Lead the customer interface with regards Quality to ensure issues are effectively closed to their satisfaction.
Manage all external interface with regards to quality matters such as IE. registration bodies, Industry bodies etc.
Ensure reporting of appropriate activities regarding the Quality management of the Project.
Assist the Work package managers in failure prevention and NRC closure and other quality issues as they arise.
Ensure the provision of quality training as required to project staff.
Have an oversight on quality supplier selection and ongoing surveillance\monitoring activity for the project.
Carry out effective planning and management of day-to-day tasks across the team, both pro-active and re-active, such as auditing, inspections, lessons learned, managing continuous improvements activity and C.A.P.A during the project lifecycle.
Mitigating risk by improving the awareness and understanding of legal issues affecting your business partners by providing training and advising on process and systems improvements to enable better risk management


What You Bring

Substantial experience in a senior operational quality position such as a quality manager working in a project office environment
Hold a lead auditor qualification
Hold NG Persons or similar
Substantial experience of dealing at all levels across major projects ideally in highly regulated industries
Previous experience of working in a matrix organisation assisting in the delivery of large infrastructure projects
Experience with supervisory or line management responsibilities would also be desirable.
Full driving license.

The high performing EHS Team in the UK consists of EHS Managers and EHS Advisors who support the Project Entity (PE) and the Grid Technology & Grid Services (GTGS) businesses. Within these there is a wide portfolio of prestigious projects including substations, HVDC interconnectors and windfarm connections, Grid Access, Flexible AC Transmission System and synchronous condensers. The EHS Team also work closely with colleagues in the Environment and Quality Teams.
