A snapshot of your day
As a Heavy Lift Supervisor at Siemens Gamesa, your day will involve leading a dedicated team in planning and executing major component exchanges on wind turbines across multiple customer sites in the UK. You will oversee mechanical, electrical, and lifting tasks, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Your role will require effective communication and leadership skills as you coordinate operations and troubleshoot issues on-site, all while working on a 14/14 rotation.
How you’ll make an impact
- Oversee major component exchanges, including gearboxes, main bearings, generators, and blades.
- Plan mechanical Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and lifting operations, including the creation of AutoCAD drawings.
- Actively supervise and participate in on-site lifting operations to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities on various wind turbines.
- Coordinate service operations and resolve product issues on customer equipment.
- Assist in completing contractual extra scopes of work as needed.
- Ensure compliance with Siemens Gamesa standards regarding EHS, Quality, and Service delivery.
- Manage SGRE team members, third-party technicians, contractors, and subcontractors for effective scope delivery.
- Complete Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and plan tasks for project mobilization.
- Conduct site inspections and maintain checklists in accordance with supervisory deliverables.
What you bring
- A passion for renewable energy and a commitment to leading change in the industry.
- Experience within the wind industry, with competency as a Maintenance Technician or above on Siemens, Senvion, or Gamesa fleets.
- Experience with major component exchanges and a CPCS Blue card (or working towards it).
- Lifting operation qualifications are desirable, with training provided for the right candidate.
- Hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical experience.
- A self-motivated individual who can work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Leadership experience with the ability to deploy teams for daily site activities.
- A flexible and enthusiastic approach to the role, including willingness to work away from home and during unsociable hours.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments effectively while working with diverse teams.
