A Snapshot of Your Day

As a member of the Customs Global Classification team, you will be responsible for accurately classifying a broad range of products in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule in China (CN) on behalf of Siemens Energy – SE (All Business Areas) and SE entities in China. Within this responsibility you gain data/documentation and determine the accurate customs classification (tariff) according to the CN Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).This position reports to the Global Classification Team and works in close collaboration with the Customs Team as part of a multinational team.


How You’ll Make an Impact

• Identifying the required information for customs classification and gathering this information from systems and/or colleagues of the relevant departments such as engineering, R&D and other areas.

• Analyzing and collaboration /assistance in classifying goods according to CN Customs regulations and CN Harmonized Tariff Schedule and taking into consideration technical attributes required for the classification process.

• Supervising and controlling Customs Classification processes

• Compliance with CN Customs Regulations

• Ensure product classifications align with CN Customs laws, regulations and requirements and other relevant trade regulations

• Stay up to date on changes in customs laws, regulations, and HTSCN amendments

• Handle classification rulings and connect with customs authorities to ensure compliance with CN regulations.

• Actively participate in team growth efforts.

• Recommend when needed changes in current processes.


What You Bring
• At least 2 years of experience in the field of customs classification

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or trade, legal or related, or equivalent experience.

• Excellent language skills (written and verbal) in Chinese and English are a must.

• Excellent knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel).

• Experience with customs/ERP IT systems such as SAP, MIC, Integration Point, etc. a plus

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Negotiation, presentation, and assertiveness are attributes that describe you the best.

• Support organization's goals, values, and diversity.

• Business travels of 5-10 %.
