A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Compressor Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for commissioning, troubleshooting, and servicing Siemens Energy, Dresser, and non-OEM turbo compressor packages and auxiliary systems at customer sites worldwide. Acting as the technical interface between Siemens Energy and its customers, you will collaborate closely with engineering, technical support, project management, and sales teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.

This role requires extensive international travel, strong technical expertise in compressor systems, and the ability to perform commissioning activities in challenging industrial and offshore environments while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

How You'll Make an Impact

Commissioning & Technical Execution

  • Lead the commissioning and startup of turbo compressor packages, control systems, and auxiliary equipment in accordance with OEM specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform commissioning activities including loop testing, instrument calibration, valve verification, lube oil flushing, surge control testing, system mapping, and startup execution.
  • Interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, control documentation, and OEM installation instructions to verify proper installation and functionality.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues during commissioning and service outages.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and recommend corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Support compressor modifications, upgrades, and retrofit projects.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities to ensure successful system handover to customers.

Controls & System Integration

  • Commission and troubleshoot industrial control systems including Siemens S7, PCS 7, T3000, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric (Triconex), and Bently Nevada 3500 systems.
  • Perform configuration verification, functional testing, loop checks, and system validation.
  • Interface with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation specialists to resolve multidisciplinary technical issues.
  • Ensure proper integration of compressor systems with plant operations and customer requirements.

Customer Support & Reporting

  • Prepare detailed technical reports documenting commissioning activities, findings, corrective actions, and recommendations.
  • Communicate technical progress, schedules, and recommendations effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Build strong customer relationships while identifying opportunities for additional service work and business growth.
  • Support commercial discussions related to scope changes and additional funding opportunities.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and maintain a Zero Harm culture by ensuring compliance with Siemens Energy and customer EHS policies.
  • Perform work safely in industrial, offshore, and demanding environmental conditions.
  • Complete offshore survival, medical, and mandatory safety certifications as required.
  • Ensure all commissioning activities comply with applicable safety, quality, and operational standards.

What You Bring

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of directly related experience in commissioning turbo compressor packages and associated auxiliary systems.
  • Proven experience with Siemens Energy, Dresser Rand, or equivalent OEM compressor equipment.
  • Experience in both new unit commissioning and service outage activities.
  • Experience with compressor modifications, upgrades, and retrofit projects.
  • Experience working at customer sites, including regional, international, and offshore assignments.

Technical Skills

  • Turbo compressor commissioning and startup.
  • Dry Gas Seal systems.
  • Auxiliary systems commissioning.
  • Motor Control Centers (MCCs).
  • Electrical motors, heaters, fans, instrumentation, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Compressor process control and surge control systems.
  • P&ID interpretation.
  • Siemens S7, PCS 7, and T3000 control systems.
  • Allen-Bradley PLCs.
  • Schneider Electric Triconex platform.
  • Bently Nevada 3500 vibration monitoring systems.
  • Loop testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and system verification.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Technical report writing.
  • Basic commercial awareness.
  • Strong understanding of EHS standards and safe work practices.
