A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Software Product Owner for Process Optimisation, you will bridge deep plant-level operational experience with digital product ownership. You will lead the definition and evolution of software solutions designed to optimise processes across chemical plants, refineries, and upstream/midstream/downstream operations.

Having worked hands-on in plant environments, you understand real operational challenges. In this role, you will translate that expertise into scalable digital solutions, owning the product from a software perspective while ensuring strong alignment with real-world plant needs.

You will act as the voice of the operator and process engineer, driving the product roadmap and ensuring delivery of solutions that improve efficiency, safety, and reliability.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Own and drive the product vision and roadmap for process optimisation software solutions in chemical and refining industries
  • Translate plant-level operational challenges into structured product requirements and digital solutions
  • Define, prioritise, and manage clear, actionable requirements based on real use cases (e.g. process efficiency, performance monitoring, optimisation)
  • Serve as the main interface between domain experts, customers, and software development teams
  • Ensure strong alignment between process engineering realities and software capabilities
  • Lead requirement engineering activities with a focus on practical usability in plant environments
  • Apply industry knowledge (refining, chemical processes, upstream/midstream/downstream) to shape product features
  • Support development teams with deep domain expertise, ensuring correct interpretation of plant workflows and constraints
  • Drive continuous improvement by analysing operational feedback and proposing product enhancements
  • Develop supporting artefacts such as workflows, functional designs, and user scenarios grounded in real plant operations

What You Bring

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years in product ownership, engineering, or technical solution roles (industrial or digital)
  • Knowledge of process data systems, analytics, or optimisation tools
  • Familiarity with RBI methodologies (API RP 580 / 581) and integrity / performance processes is a plus
  • Understanding of process safety and operational excellence practices
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and agile development environments
  • Strong operational background in process industries (refining, oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical plants)
  • Proven experience working on-site in plants (operations, process engineering, maintenance, or optimisation roles)
  • Solid understanding of process optimisation challenges and plant workflows
  • Experience in upstream, midstream, or downstream operations (refining experience highly preferred)
  • Transition or interest in moving into a software product ownership role
