A Snapshot of Your Day
This role is a replacement to ensure business continuity for the Senior Commercial Sales Manager position within the Sales & Project Management function for Compression, covering the Middle East & Asia Pacific region. The position is critical for managing the commercial lifecycle of sales opportunities, directly supporting regional business objectives through effective contract and proposal management. To address this need, the role is structured around three core areas: leadership of the commercial bid and proposal process, strategic contract negotiation and execution, and team management with a focus on process improvement. This structure ensures comprehensive oversight from pre-sales strategy to post-award contract fulfillment, aligning with the operational demands of the energy sector. Given the focus on complex commercial management and team leadership, the ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in contract and bid management within an industrial context. A proven track record of leading experienced professionals, negotiating high-value contracts, and implementing effective commercial strategies is essential for success in this M3-level management role.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- 40% Commercial Bid & Proposal Management
- Oversee the end-to-end bid and proposal generation process for complex compression projects, ensuring high-quality and competitive submissions.
- Develop and implement pre-sales contract strategies in collaboration with sales, engineering, and business management teams.
- Ensure all proposals, bids, and contracts are structured in accordance with company policies, risk management principles, and business objectives.
- Review and approve cost estimations, pricing strategies, and commercial terms within proposals.
- 30% Contract Negotiation & Execution
- Lead contract negotiations with external customers, aiming to secure favorable terms while balancing business goals and customer requirements.
- Manage contract amendments, extensions, and renegotiations to accommodate scope changes or resolve emergent issues during project lifecycles.
- Ensure the fulfillment of all contractual obligations by both the company and the client, actively managing contract performance and compliance.
- Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for legal and other internal stakeholders on contract-related matters.
- 30% Team Leadership & Process Improvement
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of experienced commercial professionals, fostering a high-performance and collaborative environment.
- Implement departmental policies and short-term strategies (1-year horizon) to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the sales operations function.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the bid and contract management workflow to optimize processes and reduce turnaround times.
- Influence stakeholders outside of the immediate team regarding commercial policies, practices, and procedures to ensure cross-functional alignment.
What You Bring
Certifications
- Association Of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) Certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in commercial management, contract negotiation, or bid management, preferably within the energy or industrial equipment sector.
- Demonstrated experience in a management capacity, leading and developing teams of experienced professionals.
