Snapshot Of Your Day

As a Controls Field Service Engineer, you will travel to different client facilities across the US and some international. You will provide technical advisory services during commissioning of new or upgraded advanced control systems for Turbocompressors and accessory equipment. Your responsibilities include leading the commissioning of control systems to ensure all systems are operational and meet performance specifications, troubleshooting to resolve issues related to hardware, software, and system integration, and teaching client operators how to effectively lead the new system. You will facilitate communication between field personnel and Siemens Energy engineering centers, ensuring flawless execution of tasks. Documenting clearances, addressing technical queries, and managing job progress are essential for your success!

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Maintain the highest level of a zero-harm culture by following and implementing all company and customer EHS policies and programs!
  • Commission and troubleshoot Siemens Energy manufactured (and legacy) control systems and related components. Writing and debugging various software routines as required.
  • Energize equipment, load software, and establish communication on various makes of PLC platforms. Ability to make minor software changes during normal maintenance or commissioning activities. Including changes in both PLC’s and HMI systems. Perform loop checks, calibrations and troubleshooting of all field end devices
  • Perform complex troubleshooting as required on machinery and ancillary systems. Coordinate with engineering in reporting and implementing changes as necessary to resolve issues. Maintain accurate backup copies of all system software.
  • Interact with different levels of customer and Siemens Energy organizations to report progress, resolve issues, and identify potential services to be offered based on customer needs. Communicate schedules and open items with client; Prepare detailed technical reports.
  • Travel for extended periods of time, both domestic and some international as assigned. (International assignments may include travel to developing countries.)

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in 4-year engineering field is required, preferably in Electrical, Controls, or related.
  • 3+ years of proven experience in commissioning control systems, preferably in the Turbocompressor or related industries. Strong understanding of control theory, PLC programming, and industrial automation. Preferably previous training / certification and experience on Siemens Energy Controls Systems and commissioning activities including Allen Bradley, S7, Rockwell, and WonderWare.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in the field. Ability to understand and interpret engineering P&ID drawings and technical documents.
  • Excellent and professional communication skills both written and oral. This includes the ability to hold difficult discussions with customers to protect company interests; negotiating skills are a valuable plus. Must be proficient using Microsoft Office and web-based portals.
  • Basic commercial knowledge to understand contract deliverables and identify items or work that falls outside these boundaries so additional funding from the customer can be pursued.
  • Must hold valid driver’s license and either holds or is able to obtain a passport and TWIC card. Ability to complete offshore survival training if requested.
