To do so, our Grid Technology business area plays a vital role in the energy value chain providing all the key elements including AC substation construction, power transformers, gas and air-insulated switchgear, Solutions for Digital Grid applications, Battery Storage, and lifecycle services of both our own and other OEM assets in the field. 

We have a broad customer base that includes transmission system operators, utilities, renewable developers, independent power producers, engineering, procurement, and construction companies (EPCs) and industrial companies in sectors such as the data center, renewable and Hydrogen verticals. 

What part will you play?

Reporting to the Head of Sales Europe – Grid Technologies, you will lead the sub regional sales organization for Grid Technologies in the GB & I region.

You will be responsible for the development and implementation of the GB & I sub regional sales strategy, ensuring the goals and guidelines of our execution units are met all of which will lead to profitable growth and business success across the whole GT portfolio.  

You will lead a team of sales and bid managers, set, and manage their targets and priorities, and support them whilst they influence the short, medium, and long-term buying and business strategies of our customers. You will drive and facilitates all related sales activities regionally collaborating extensively with the related Central Sales functions and Factories for potential cross country / vertical opportunities.

You will regionally ensure a flawless order implementation process from handover up to warranty finalization whilst maximising customer satisfaction. This includes Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Management, Project Management, Field installation resource and operational staff.

Secures achievement of targets, enlarges market exploitation and realization of GT sales strategies in a safe and profitable manner.

Customer Relationship Management:  

  • Positions the organization as a strategic partner with all customers and sales channels to deliver mutually profitable business solutions.
  • Develops customer loyalty and satisfaction on a sustainable basis and penetrates new market verticals with potential for long term growth.
  • Maximizes facetime with customers to secure and grow long term profitable relationships.
  • Delivers growth and financial targets including management of selected business partners in the region.

Strategy

  • Adapts strategic sales and business plans and initiatives by identifying business needs, market potential and innovative business models for long-term success.
  • Ensures the regional business strategy is understood and cascaded down and communicated effectively in the organization.
  • Monitors the achievement of sales strategy and order intake targets by means of regular reviews both locally and with EU management team.
  • Support strategic key customers' business development initiatives within the respective area and potential cross areas/Hubs.
  • Drives customer focus within the organization and initiates / contributes to planning of customer related product development measures or the setup of customer related projects.

Leadership and people management:  

  • Provide leadership to and on behalf of the business area to ensure a shared clear vision and direction to the team is understood.
  • Ensures effective selection, training, and talent development of professionals within the local GT organization.
  • Leads and develops the workforce, ensuring EHS compliance, maximum productivity and effectiveness. If applicable, also with Business Partners.
  • Enables a high-performance culture of business excellence and continuous improvement, with motivated employees and retention of key staff.
  • Act as coach and sparring partner for the teams, providing advice and guidance.
  • Proactively foster cross-country collaboration to achieve the overall regional targets, including resource sharing, talent development and best practices.

Operational Management:

  • Provide leadership to the operational team ensuring that they are motivated and trained to carry out their responsibilities to the required standard to deliver of a wide range of transmission products on time, to quality and within budget ensuring the Company revenue and profit expectations are maximised.
  • Ensure highest levels of QEHS are implemented, understood, and always executed.
  • Maintain working relationships with all other SE senior leadership colleagues to ensure effective co-ordination of all company activities in support of company objectives.
  • Improve operational management systems, processes and ensure best practices are implemented throughout the business and executed to the highest standard.
  • Support the operational team and Product colleagues who are responsible for the management of local subcontractors and overseas factories from order through delivery up to handover. This is in accordance with the client schedule and quality requirements and always ensuring strict adherence to client & Siemens Energy EHS requirements.
  • Support the team in identifying customer requirements beyond the agreed project scope to increase the business benefit from multiple projects. Ensuring all potential opportunities, variations and risks are identified and reported to the Business as soon as possible. 

Financial Management:  

  • Ensures the implementation of sales guidelines and sets sales targets for the assigned sales organization.
  • Develops and proposes sales budgets and growth forecasts aligned with the regional sales strategy.
  • Formulates, aligns, communicates, and continuously monitors the diverse Sales pipelines necessary to deliver order intake targets.

What You Bring  

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and/or Business with relevant sales management experience in technical capital equipment, solutions, and service with a short to medium duration sales cycle within the power transmission space.
  • Experience with sales planning, CRM utilisation (Salesforce) and business forecasting
  • Willingness to travel regionally and on occasion globally to support the needs of the business and our customers.
  • Experience and proven track record in people management including managing of managers. Significant competence management related to sales, bid management and operational execution would be required.
  • Deep understanding of the T&D Market. Customer and competitor behaviors/patterns, Business Models/Types (e.g. Product/Systems, Project and order execution as well as Service) attached to the most effective Sales channels on the focus area.
  • Versatile interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to prioritise and manage own time effectively to achieve targets, particularly in a multi stakeholder environment.
  • High business results oriented able to steer virtual teams coupled with excellent communication skills towards a structured, analytical, and responsible way of working.
  • Organizes effectively, delegates responsibility and solves problems quickly.
