A Snapshot of Your Day

This role reports into the Tenders & Projects Asia Pacific team to provide senior-level management for the commissioning of Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), including Synchronous Condensers and auxiliary equipment. This position is critical for leading the on-site execution phase of a major project over the next three years, followed by a transition to a technical project management role with future onsite tasks for the FACTS portfolio. To achieve these objectives, the role is structured around three core areas: leading a large on-site commissioning team for FACTS projects, managing all project and stakeholder activities including international travel for testing, and providing long-term technical project management support for future tenders and projects. This approach ensures immediate project success while building long-term capability within the team. Given the focus on large-scale FACTS commissioning and team leadership, the ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in various electrical systems, proven management capabilities for large technical teams, and a strong background in project management / technical project management. A relevant engineering degree and the ability to undertake significant international travel are essential requirements for this position.

How You’ll Make an Impact

    • Lead, manage, and supervise a large on-site team of 30-45 senior commissioning experts, ensuring alignment with project goals and safety standards.
    • Direct the complete commissioning process for Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), such as Synchronous Condensers (SynCons), from installation to final handover.
    • Develop and implement detailed commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures for FACTS projects to meet project milestones and quality requirements.
    • Act as the primary technical authority on-site for FACTS commissioning, providing expert guidance and resolving complex engineering challenges.
  • 30% Project & Stakeholder Management
    • Serve as the main point of contact for all commissioning activities, managing communications with clients, project managers, and internal stakeholders.
    • Plan, attend, and manage extended international travel for Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and other critical project activities.
    • Enforce rigorous Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) standards throughout the commissioning lifecycle, ensuring all work meets specification.
    • Track and report on commissioning progress, budget adherence, and resource allocation to senior management.
    • 5. Health and Safety, plan, implement, review and improve health and safety measures onsite with the designated EHS experts to ensure Zero Harm for all people onsite during the project execution.
  • 20% Technical Project Management & Business Development
    • Transition into a Senior Technical Project Manager role following the primary on-site phase to support a diverse portfolio of FACTS projects.
    • Provide senior technical expertise during the tendering phase for new FACTS projects, contributing to bid strategy and solution design.
    • Support the execution planning and management of various portfolio elements within the FACTS and Storage business unit.
