How to contribute to our vision

This request is for a replacement, site-based Wind Turbine Technician within the Onshore Service Operations team for South Africa. The role is crucial for maintaining the operational availability and performance of wind turbine assets by executing maintenance, diagnostics, and repair activities directly on-site. To meet these objectives, this role definition is structured around three core areas: hands-on Turbine Maintenance and Repair, advanced Diagnostics and Technical Analysis, and rigorous adherence to Safety, Quality, and Reporting standards. This approach ensures all aspects of on-site service, from physical repairs to data-driven problem-solving and compliance, are covered. Given the focus on complex technical work and team support, the ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and high-voltage electrical systems. Requirements include proven troubleshooting capabilities, proficiency with diagnostic tools, and a strong commitment to safety protocols, typically supported by vocational training and several years of field experience.

What You Need To Make a Difference

  • 50% Turbine Maintenance & Repair

    • Conduct torqueing, tensioning, and inspection of structural hardware to ensure mechanical integrity.
  • 30% Diagnostics & Technical Analysis
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex malfunctions in turbine control systems, SCADA systems, and electrical circuits using schematics and test equipment.
    • Analyze turbine performance data to identify trends, predict failures, and recommend operational improvements.
    • Provide technical assistance, training, and guidance to lower-level technicians on non-routine issues and complex repairs.
  • 20% Safety, Quality & Reporting
    • Adhere strictly to all Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and working-at-heights procedures.
    • Complete detailed service reports, maintenance logs, and quality control documentation for all work performed.
    • Maintain an accurate inventory of tools, spare parts, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
