A Snapshot of Your Day

Join a dedicated team where your leadership will drive the success of secondary systems design! In this role, you will focus on leading the day-to-day operations and continuous improvement of an engineering team within Grid Automation. You will allocate work, manage priorities, and resolve conflicts while supporting engineers through technical and professional challenges. Your ability to maintain consistent standards and ways of working will be crucial as you represent your domain in discussions with customers, Project Managers, and other discipline leads. This is your opportunity to leverage your senior technical background to support and develop your engineers while driving the success of the team.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Lead Daily Operations: Oversee work allocation and manage priorities and conflicts within the team.
  • Own Capability and Standards: Ensure consistent ways of working across the team, driving quality and efficiency.
  • Coach and Develop Engineers: Identify capability gaps and shape development plans for technical and professional growth.
  • Act as Senior Point of Contact: Represent your domain in project discussions, collaborating with customers and cross-discipline teams.
  • Champion Digitalization: Identify opportunities to adopt new tools and enhance engineering efficiency and quality.
  • Communicate Effectively: Engage with engineers, customers, suppliers, and senior stakeholders, adapting your communication style to the audience.

What You Bring

  • Proven Leadership Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, or mentor engineers, with a focus on their development.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to represent your domain to customers and senior leadership.
  • Judgment Under Pressure: A track record of making sound decisions while balancing team well-being, delivery pressure, and quality.
  • Technical Credibility: Senior-level experience in high voltage substation secondary design, including protection schematics, AC and DC supply design, interlocking, and interface definition.
  • Collaborative Leadership Style: A servant-leadership approach that empowers others while holding accountability.
  • Interest in Process Improvement: A genuine interest in engineering process improvement and digitalization, with the judgment to assess the value of new tools and methods.

EU citizens who are willing to relocate to the UK will be considered.
