A Snapshot of Your Day

The role will focus on three core areas: ensuring license compliance and audit readiness, driving cost optimization and demand steering initiatives, and providing expert advisory and governance to internal stakeholders. This structure is designed to internalize strategic and operational activities previously handled by an external resource.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • License Compliance & Audit Management
    • Compile, validate, and interpret license compliance reports (e.g., Effective License Position - ELP) for an assigned portfolio of software vendors.
    • Identify and analyze compliance risks, including under-licensing, over-licensing, and incorrect usage, and define and track mitigation measures.
    • Coordinate and prepare responses for internal and external software audits, ensuring all required data and documentation is accurate and defensible.
    • Provide quality assurance for licensing operations by validating license balance calculations and ensuring the correctness of entitlement and consumption data.
  • Cost Optimization & Demand Steering
    • Initiate, drive, and track optimization measures such as license harvesting, software removal for unused installations, and re-allocation of licenses.
    • Analyze software usage trends and demand drivers to develop forecasts and support financial planning, budgeting, and true-up processes.
    • Provide data-driven analysis and scenario planning to support contract negotiations and renewals, with a focus on achieving cost efficiency.
    • Trigger procurement actions for license gaps or surpluses in collaboration with procurement and service owner teams.
  • Stakeholder Advisory & Governance
    • Act as a central advisor to internal stakeholders (e.g., Application Managers, Service Owners, Procurement) on licensing models, use rights, and compliance requirements.
    • Ensure the consistent application of license management policies and governance frameworks across the organization.
    • Facilitate communication and alignment between technical, commercial, and financial teams regarding the software asset lifecycle.
    • Review and provide licensing expertise on new software requests and architectural decisions to prevent future compliance or cost issues.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Several years of professional experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT vendor management, or a related license management role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex licensing scenarios for major enterprise software vendors.
  • Expertise in Software Asset Management (SAM), including software license management, license compliance, audit defense, knowledge of enterprise licensing models (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, SAP), and the effective use of SAM tools and data integration practices.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, including data analysis, risk assessment, demand forecasting, and cost modeling to support informed decision‑making and effective business planning.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and governance capabilities, including stakeholder management, advisory and consulting support, process governance, and negotiation support to ensure alignment and informed decision‑making.
