A Snapshot of Your Day
The role is critical for providing robust, professional legal support to navigate the region's growing business and increasing legal complexity. To address this, the position will focus on three core areas: providing comprehensive legal counsel on a wide range of commercial and corporate matters, proactively managing legal risk and ensuring regulatory compliance, and representing the company's interests in disputes. This structure ensures full legal coverage for business operations and strategic initiatives. Given the focus on these areas, the ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of Chinese business law, significant experience in contract negotiation and risk management, and the ability to work independently on complex legal challenges
How You’ll Make an Impact
- 50% Commercial and Corporate Legal Advisory
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including sales, procurement, and service agreements, to support business objectives.
- Provide timely and commercially focused legal advice to business units on corporate law, transactions, and operational matters.
- Structure, draft, and approve legal documents, letters of agreement, and corporate policies related to trade, financial, and operational activities.
- 40% Legal Risk Management and Compliance
- Research, analyze, and interpret existing and proposed Chinese laws and regulations to assess their impact on the organization.
- Ensure organizational compliance with corporate governance standards, ethical guidelines, and local regulatory requirements.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop strategies to mitigate legal risks associated with business operations in China
- 10% Dispute Resolution and External Counsel Management
- Manage and liaise with external legal counsel on complex legal issues, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective support.
- Develop and implement strategies for resolving legal disputes in the company's best interest.
What You Bring
Education
- Bachelor or Master of Laws (LL.B. or LL.M.) or equivalent degree is required.
- Fluency in both Mandarin and English is essential for this role.
- Admission to the bar in China is essential for this role.
- minimum 8 years of relevant experience in a law firm or as in-house counsel with a focus on general corporate and commercial law
