A Snapshot of Your Day

The Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) Research and Development (R&D) Engineering Graduate Programme is targeted at graduates from a variety of pathways and developing them over a two-year period to be able to enter a professional career in the industry. This an outstanding opportunity to join a team who are the forefront of new technologies, supporting the fight for a more sustainable future.

The graduate programme is structured around placements in working departments where you will be integrated into the team and learn through experiencing the day-to-day activities. As part of this placement, you will be required to complete three 8-months long placements based in our offices in Keele, Sheffield and Glasgow.


How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Design and engineer the component down to detail to satisfy the specified requirements of the customer. Define the products and subcomponents to be used including their characteristics and requirements.
  • Develop detailed solutions for the system integration of the individual elements as a functioning unit. Evaluation of potential technical solutions with evolution to design solutions
  • Responsibility for the realisation of the component with the required functionality, incl. preparation of the design documentation. Production of detailed technical specification for procured items.
  • Research into new and emerging technologies. Validation of components/equipment in laboratory/wind turbines.
  • Creation of system models and utilisation of them to perform simulations. Control system design and implementation. Software design, code and test


What You Bring

  • You will have a min 2:1 bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Sciences (completed before September 2025).
  • A passion for renewable energy and genuine enthusiasm, interest and ability in research and development
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills in order to collaborate closely with suppliers
  • Willingness to travel and work on wind turbines sites and with R&D collaborators. You will also be happy to work at either of our three sites across the UK: Keele, Glasgow and Sheffield. You will be expected to attend the office on a weekly basis under our hybrid working policy.
  • Ability to grasp new concepts.
  • Adaptable, thorough & logical approach. Responsibility & ownership mentality.
