A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Controls Commissioning Engineer, you work on the testing and commissioning of control systems for HVDC converter stations and other power‑electronic–based energy applications. Depending on the project phase, you are deployed either in a test center or at a customer site. In the test center, you perform system integration and functional verification of converter control and auxiliary control systems before shipment. On site, you execute commissioning activities from installation checks through first energization, tuning, and customer acceptance. Throughout the project, you collaborate closely with engineering and project teams to ensure stable, reliable, and safe operation of HVDC control systems. 


How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Executing commissioning and testing of control systems for power‑electronic and high‑power energy applications
  • Performing integration and functional testing of control systems, including closed‑loop behavior and interaction with power equipment
  • Preparing and executing commissioning and test procedures while documenting results, deviations, and corrective actions
  • Analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving control‑related issues during testing and commissioning activities
  • Supporting quality, risk management, and continuous‑improvement initiatives throughout project execution


What You Bring 

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, or a comparable technical qualification
  • Experience in commissioning, testing, or startup of industrial control systems
  • Background in power electronics, high‑power systems, or automation technology
  • Experience with control testing tools and PLC‑based or model‑based control environments
  • Structured, analytical working style with strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to travel worldwide for extended test‑center or on‑site assignments 

Travel, as needed (~6-9 months in Raleigh, 6-9 months in different location).

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
