关于职务
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR DAY
This internship is based in Rouen, France.
As an intern focusing on Long-term Wind Data Analysis from SCADA Systems, you will play a vital role in assessing climate change impacts on wind energy resources. Based in Paris La Défense at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) and collaborating with the Dynamic Meteorology Laboratory (LMD) at École Polytechnique, you will analyze SCADA wind data collected from thousands of SGRE turbines over the past 20+ years. Your work will involve processing and structuring large datasets to identify long-term trends and interannual variability in wind characteristics.
Meaningful Project: You will analyze wind data, including wind speed, direction, and turbulence intensity, to assess their links with large-scale climate dynamics.
Impact: Your analysis will contribute to understanding how wind energy resources are evolving in a changing climate, supporting the energy transition.
Team Culture: You will work in an interdisciplinary and international environment, collaborating with experts from SGRE and researchers at LMD.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Process, structure, and analyze large-scale SCADA datasets focused on wind characteristics.
- Identify long-term trends in wind speed, direction, and turbulence intensity across different regions and time scales.
- Apply statistical and data science tools to reveal meaningful patterns and build robust visualizations.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Final-year Master’s student or engineering school student (M2 or equivalent) with a background in fluid mechanics, climate science, data science, energy systems, or related fields.
- Strong skills in statistics, data analysis, and time series processing, with proficiency in Python and MATLAB (mandatory).
- Solid knowledge of atmospheric dynamics, climate variability, and climate indices (ENSO, NAO, etc.).
ABOUT THE TEAM
At Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, we are committed to driving the energy transition through innovative solutions in wind energy. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of industrial data science, fluid dynamics, and climate research. You will be jointly supervised by SGRE engineering and data teams and researchers from the Dynamic Meteorology Laboratory (LMD) at École Polytechnique.
OUR COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY
We believe that diversity creates more opportunities for success. That’s why we recruit great minds from all walks of life, regardless of gender, age, ethnic background, sexual orientation, or disability. Our main aim is to find individuals from around the globe who can contribute to world-changing technology.
REWARDS/BENEFITS
- Participate in our mission for sustainability: clean energy for generations to come.
- A global team of diverse colleagues who share a passion for renewable energy.
- Trust and empowerment to make your own ideas a reality.
- Opportunity to work across the industry-research interface, with the possibility of scientific publication or continuation into a CIFRE PhD.
If you are ready to take on this challenge and contribute to the understanding of wind energy resources in a changing climate, we invite you to apply and join our team at Siemens Gamesa!
