A Snapshot of Your Day 

As a Global Commodity Manager (m/f/d), your typical workday involves a broad range of sourcing related activities to drive the implementation of your strategy which was developed in coordination with your key cross-functional partners. 

You spend a large part of your day communicating with key internal collaborators and suppliers around the world. In this booming market, you strive to find optimal supply chain solutions that balance technical, commercial, and risk-related considerations to ensure the continued strong growth of our company.

How You’ll Make an Impact 

  • Managing the spend of various Switchgear-related Commodities (e.g. Insulators/GIS Bushings, Motors & Drives, SF6 Gas etc.) having a significant impact on the P&L of the Siemens Energy Switchgear Business.
  • Responsibility for the definition and implementation of a global commodity and supplier segmentation strategy in alignment with the factory Network locations
  • Coordinate and lead the respective global cross functional commodity teams to achieve optimum conditions with your supply base and implement savings initiatives in close alignment with the collaborators in our factory network. 
  • Define and implement negotiation concepts which are in line with your commodity strategy and ensure the maximum contribution to the targets of the Business Unit. 
  • Drive Relationship Management of a diverse set of suppliers with activities such as performance evaluations, supplier development, negotiations, claim- and contract management
  • Build and maintain strong international working relationships with key business collaborators to establish yourself as an accepted business partner
  • Identify market risks proactively and turn them into supply opportunities (e.g. supplier innovations/ risk mitigation)

What You Bring

  • Master’s degree in industrial engineering and / or Business Administration
  • Several years of experience in different procurement functions within an international environment; this should ideally include operational/ strategic procurement experience as well as team leading experience and a proven track record in cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience gained in other functional areas (e.g. Engineering, Quality, Sales) is beneficial
  • Work experience within the Energy Sector (preferably Transmission Products) and within an international factory network environment
  • Ability to quickly grasp and consider key technical aspects within the supplier negotiations and overall sourcing strategy
  • Negotiation experience with multinationals
  • Analytical skills with an ability to combine strategical thinking with a strong hands-on approach
  • Working with high credibility and integrity, you are able to build trust with internal and external stakeholders incl. BU/ Division Management in an international environment. 
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English and German. Additional language skills are beneficial.
