A Snapshot of Your Day
As Deputy Manager – Material Management at the Nellore Generator Plant, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless supply chain continuity for wind turbine generator manufacturing. Your day will revolve around planning and securing material availability, managing supplier performance, and driving efficient warehouse operations. You will work closely with production, engineering, and procurement colleagues to align material strategies with operational needs, resolve bottlenecks quickly, and ensure data‑driven decision‑making. Through proactive planning, effective communication, and continuous process improvement, you will help maintain production stability and strengthen plant‑level supply chain performance.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Material Planning & Inventory Management (40%)
- Develop and execute material requirement plans (MRP) based on production schedules and demand forecasts to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
- Optimize inventory levels using tools such as cycle counting and ABC analysis to minimize carrying costs and prevent shortages.
- Analyze and resolve issues related to material shortages, excess stock, and obsolescence in collaboration with production and engineering teams.
- Track and improve inventory KPIs such as stock accuracy and inventory turnover to drive operational performance.
Procurement & Supplier Relations (30%)
- Manage procurement activities for direct and indirect materials, ensuring timely sourcing aligned with cost, quality, and delivery expectations.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, conducting regular performance reviews and negotiating commercial terms.
- Act as the primary escalation point to resolve supplier challenges such as quality deviations, invoicing inconsistencies, and delivery delays.
- Coordinate with the Supplier Quality team to ensure incoming materials meet all technical and quality requirements.
Warehouse Operations & Process Optimization (30%)
- Oversee inbound logistics and warehouse operations to ensure efficient receipt, storage, and issuance of materials.
- Implement lean principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material flow efficiency and reduce waste.
- Analyze operational data to identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements with clear action plans.
- Guide junior team members on standard operating procedures while supporting them in complex problem‑solving scenarios.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in material management, procurement, or supply chain planning within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, with a strong preference for SAP (MM/PP modules).
- Advanced expertise in material requirements planning, inventory control, demand planning, and procurement operations.
- Certifications such as APICS CSCP or CPIM are highly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret supply chain data; experience with Power BI is an advantage.
- Demonstrated capability in supplier relationship management, negotiation, and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Experience mentoring or coaching junior colleagues.
- A proactive, accountable, and problem‑solving mindset with strong collaboration skills.
