A Snapshot of Your Day

You will serve as a control and instrumentation engineer for our industrial service business. Collaborating with a team of experienced engineers, drafters, marketing, and supply chain personnel, you will develop and implement engineered designs and solutions to help our customers meet their challenges for operating plant improvements and carbon-reduction initiatives.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Support the Siemens Energy Industrial Application steam turbine modernization business with detailed control and instrumentation engineering design and analysis for new valves and/or upgrading existing steam turbine operating equipment.
  • Perform the required calculations, direct drafting, and release engineering drawings and instructions to the manufacturing and supply chain network.
  • Provide engineering quote support to the marketing organization. Lead and/or support steam turbine and valve customer-order engineering and R&D projects by performing calculations, ensuring drawings are issued to required dates, and completing tasks within allocated budgets.
  • Provide technical instructions to manufacturing, supply chain, or field service for disposition of product deviations. Develop unique repair solutions to meet customer requirements, including cost and schedule demands in a safe and accurate manner. These typically include controls solution, part replacements, or component modifications. Establish associated engineering task plans.
  • Create instructions for new engineering drawings. Create review, modify, and sign-off engineering drawings. Direct drafting personnel in day-to-day activities.
  • Provide technical instructions to the field in support of turbine installation or troubleshooting activities. Provide technical support and leadership for root cause investigations.

What You Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience, preferably on controls and instrumentation of rotating equipment.
  • A fundamental understanding of control and instrumentation engineering principles required, with focus on electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic/mechanical controls, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, piping & instrumentation diagrams, logic diagrams, control narratives and controls component selection. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Detail-oriented and ability to prioritize work and multitask effectively.
  • Ability to assess technical risk based on available data and/or calculation results. Capable of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and motivated to drive change and foster an environment to help achieve business results. Motivated to work well in a team setting as well as independently.
  • NX CAD software and Solid Modeling skills preferred, but not required.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

This job may be in New York. Siemens Energy offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay. Details regarding our benefits can be found here: https://benefitsatenergy.com/thinking-of-joining.html. The base salary range for this position in New York is $91,600 - $185,000 and the annual incentive target is 10% of base salary.

Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.
