A Snapshot of Your Day

You lead the commodity agenda for electrical insulation and copper materials for Large Generator products. From your base in Bucharest or Mülheim, you orchestrate the commodity circle, align closely with Engineering, Quality, and Operations, and turn market insight into resilient sourcing strategies and supplier agreements that secure capacity, reduce risk, and deliver measurable cost and sustainability impact.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Developing and implementing the Commodity Strategy for Large Generator portfolio in alignment with Global Commodity Strategy for Electrical Insulation components e.g. Insulating Tapes (Mica, OCP, ICP etc.), Rigid Components like Prepreg, Rings, EPGx (sheets and machined profiles), Ropes, Tubes and Laminates. Additionally responsible for commodity management of Copper based material like Copper Flats, Insulated Flat Wires, Sheets, Profiles etc. in machined form.
  • Lead the Commodity Circle and drive the end to end strategic procurement cycle: market analysis & scouting, should cost insights, negotiation planning, eSourcing events, award proposals, and sourcing board preparations.
  • Secure capacity and supply resilience via frame contracts, price lists, and multi sourcing strategies; identify and mitigate risks (e.g., tariff exposure, single source, capacity constraints) and ensure continuity for critical Large Generator demand.
  • Deliver measurable value (CNI/savings, total cost improvements, inventory and cash objectives) and maintain transparent KPIs and spend dashboards for your area.
  • Drive early supplier involvement with Engineering and SQD to accelerate NPI/continuous improvement, quality robustness, and manufacturability—translating field and supply market feedback into actionable design-to-value measures.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships: performance reviews, joint improvement roadmaps, and executive governance with top suppliers in EMEA and beyond.
What You Bring
  • Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain/Procurement, or Business—plus professional experience in direct material commodity management or category management in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with generator insulation systems and copper products (e.g., profiles, bars, wire, sheet) or adjacent electrical materials. Experience turning technical specs into sourcing strategies is key.
  • Supplier market analysis & scouting, cost modeling/should cost, competitive tendering, fact based negotiations, contracting (frame agreements/price lists), and risk management.
  • Proven ability to lead cross functional commodity teams (Commodity Circle) and influence at multiple levels, internally and at suppliers.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP and eSourcing platforms; comfort with KPI dashboards and data driven decisions. (Experience within Siemens Energy procurement frameworks is a plus.)
  • Professional fluency in English & German required for stakeholder and supplier interactions; Willingness to travel (~10–20%) for supplier visits and cross site collaboration.
