A Snapshot of Your Day

A High Voltage Breaker Field Service Engineer supports the installed base of high voltage power circuit breakers used in the utility and heavy industrial applications. This individual will be responsible by using a hands-on approach to the proper installation, maintenance, and repair methods of high voltage circuit breakers (38kV thru 500kV). This person will be capable of working individually, with team members, and even guiding customer personnel. The person will advance to have a high level of Siemens Energy product technical expertise as well as further develop their organization, leadership, and communication skills. Required traveling is approx. 90%.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Complete technical field assignments that involve routine service and installation, assembly, and/or repair of circuit breakers rated 38kV through 550kV. May be assigned to work individually or as part of a larger repair / maintenance project
  • Responsible for troubleshooting equipment operational / performance issues, routine preventative maintenance, and assisting in major maintenance projects.
  • While performing service at a customer’s site, will be responsible for collecting pertinent equipment data and other specific information involved in the service of this equipment.
  • Proficient with equipment electrical control circuits and high-level troubleshooting.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, (written and/or verbal), regarding safety, (i.e. tailgate meetings), security or environmental incidents, safety violations or near misses.
  • Responsible for completing time & expense and field service job reports, using Siemens Energy on-line/administrative tools or software.

What You Bring

  • A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a similar technical discipline. Candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent experience, along with Military training in related electrical engineering technologies, are encouraged to apply in lieu of an Associate's Degree.
  • Ability to read basic electrical drawings
  • Must demonstrate proficient mechanical skills, including the ability to operate hand tools, power tools, multimeters, ladders and PPE.
  • A sense of personal accountability when it comes to both decision-making and supervising project teams.
  • Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficient with the operation of the standard circuit breaker test equipment (such as: Digital Low Resistance Meters, Breaker Analyzers, SF6 Gas Analyzers, CT Test Sets, and Digital Multi-Meters)
