A Snapshot of Your Day
As a member of the Customs Classification (GC) team, you will be responsible for accurately classifying a wide range of products according to the Harmonized Trade System (HTS) of Goods, including the Common Nomenclature of Mercosur (NCM), on behalf of Siemens Energy legal entities in Brazil and Latin America. Within this responsibility, you will capture data/documentation and determine the accurate customs classification (tariff) according to the classification rules set forth in the HTS and related/correlated rules. This position is based in Jundiai-SP , reports to the Global Classification Team and works closely with customs operations teams as well as customs consulting.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Identify the vital information for tax and customs classification and capture this information from systems and/or colleagues in relevant departments such as engineering, R&D, and other areas.
- Analyze and collaborate/assist in the classification of goods according to the general rules of interpretation of the Harmonized System, consultation solutions, explanatory notes of the Harmonized System, and other relevant rules, taking into account the technical attributes required for the classification process.
- Supervise and control customs classification processes.
- Comply with customs regulations for tax classification purposes.
- Stay updated on changes in customs laws and regulations related to tax classification.
- Manage classification decisions and connect with customs authorities to ensure compliance with regulations
- Recommend changes to current processes when vital.
What You Bring
- Experience in the field of customs classification
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering or trade, legal or related.
- Excellent language skills (written and verbal) in Spanish and English.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel).
- Experience with customs/ERP IT systems such as SAP, GTM, Integration Point, etc. a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Negotiation, presentation, and assertiveness are attributes that describe you the best.
- Support organization's goals, values, and diversity.
- Business travels of 5-10 %.
