A Snapshot of Your Day
Siemens Energy in Charlotte is a heavy manufacturing plant that manufactures and services power transformers. The Logistics Manager leads a diverse team of over (15) employees, consisting of hourly and salary roles. Primary responsibilities inbound, outbound and warehouse. Receiving, materials and Heavy Equipment Operations, Logistics and Shipping. You will closely collaborate with all the product line teams to ensure safe compliant operations and delivery of production materials and supplies.
How You’ll make an Impact
- Be responsible for the flow of materials, equipment, and supplies at the Charlotte power transformer plant, ensuring efficient receipt and usage.
- Develop and lead the department budget and business plans, focusing on logistics operations, warehousing, transportation, and compliance with local and state regulations.
- Lead logistics operations with a strong emphasis on Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) practices.
- Coordinate heavy lift activities to ensure availability of railcars and trucks for shipments from the plant.
- Lead all logistics operations, including receiving, transportation, shipping, and inventory management for Charlotte materials.
- Collaborate with the Siemens Energy logistics team to support global initiatives and ensure timely transportation scheduling to meet customer deadlines.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field required, with a preference for Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
- 8+ years of experience in Logistics Management, particularly in heavy manufacturing and preferably in the power transformer industry.
- Proven understanding of domestic and international transportation regulations, as well as experience with heavy equipment and railcars.
- Proficient in inventory control and materials management within a manufacturing setting, with experience using SAP for logistics and warehouse management.
- Familiarity with hazardous waste handling, employee development, customer interactions, and compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.
- Shown ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong time management, communication skills, and experience in cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
