A Snapshot of Your Day

Siemens Energy Transmission services provides covers a comprehensive service portfolio including packaging turnkey installation and commissioning, repair, refurbishment and spares for OEM and non-OEM power transformers, AIS and GIS.

The FSS is responsible for managing field personnel and assets for Siemens Energy Canada – Grid Technologies – Service group. A qualified candidate in this position will provide excellent customer service while managing safety, quality, schedule, and budget. The FSS carries out (in conjunction with the Project Management Team) all duties required for the successful schedule, planning and execution of GT SV projects. The FSS is directly responsible for the professional development of field personnel and maintenance of all field service equipment, manages the SV crew members and assigned contractor(s) The FSS is expected to take decisive and/or corrective action for the well-being of the crew, environment, project, customer, and/or organization as a whole. 

The FSS reports to the SV Operations Manager and is expected to have effective communication regarding resource loading, scheduling, forecasting, personnel, and equipment utilization. Effective communication with the operations and project team is required. The FSS role often requires extensive travel and non-standard schedules at customer field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions. The FSS will compliment the SV workforce when required. 

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • The FSS will review and fully understands the project’s agreement/contract, specifications, clarification and exceptions, scope of work, budgets, and allowances prior to commencement.
  • Support the preparation of schedules proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract
  • Drive innovation, growth, quality and best practice processes to meet Siemens standards as well as customer and competitive needs.
  • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Drive safety culture for Service Center employees consistent with existing Siemens safe working procedures / practices.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Electrical or Mechanical Technical Diploma or Trade journeyman certificate
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools and their functions.
  • Ideally ten (10) years of related OEM, industrial, commercial or utility experience
  • Experience with managing a diverse team of technical professionals in assigned region
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rule, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively in a professional manner on all aspects of transformer service activities, verbal or written, whilst understanding the importance of protecting the company's propriety information and intellectual property rights.
  • Must possess excellent written communication skills and be capable of writing job directives, work instructions and protocols.
  • Possess comprehensive skills to interpret the scope of work, assembly, general arrangement drawings, electrical prints and one-line diagrams, as well as test data and factory instruction manuals Responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism with clients, vendors and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated success in managing people, building strong business relationships and success in achieving results along with solid financial acumen
  • High level of organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks and projects with little direction and supervision.
  • Effective business judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to work with computers, SAP, and Microsoft Office Systems
  • Competent in the use of MS Office and Windows based software, as well as online tools.
  • Possession of or ability to attain a Passport for international travel
  • Must be available to travel approximately 30%
