A Snapshot of your day
Your day involves supporting the Shift Charge Engineer in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations during your assigned shift. You will review shift and safety logs, assist with the Permit to Work (PTW) process, monitor performance, conduct plant walkdowns, coordinate operational activities, and document critical information in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Assist the Shift Charge Engineer in managing the safe operation of plant systems, monitor performance via DCS/SCADA, conduct inspections, initiate corrective actions, and act as the Shift Charge Engineer in their absence.
- Support the preparation, review, and approval of PTW processes, verify isolations and lock-out/tag-out compliance, and coordinate with maintenance teams and contractors for safe and timely equipment servicing.
- Record operational data, incidents, and maintenance requests in the CMMS, ensure clear and complete shift logbook entries, and track work requests to support maintenance planning.
- Monitor and analyze operational indicators, address deviations, escalate issues, and resolve recurring problems to ensure activities meet quality standards and plant procedures.
- Promote safety culture by ensuring compliance with safety guidelines, participating in hazard identification and risk assessments, and maintaining adherence to environmental and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and contractors to maintain operational readiness and ensure effective shift handovers for smooth continuity of operations.
What You Bring
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Mechanical, Electrical, Power Plant Engineering, or related disciplines, with at least 4 years of experience in large-scale power plant operations, preferably in combined cycle power plants.
- Strong knowledge of control room operations, PTW systems, isolation procedures, operational data analysis, and efficiency monitoring, with familiarity in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, high-pressure steam systems, and OEM operation protocols (Siemens Energy preferred).
- Proficient in navigating complex technical documentation and confident in using relevant IT applications (e.g., Microsoft Office), with knowledge of T3000 or CMMS systems being an advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic or Kurdish and English (additional languages are a plus).
- Ability to work effectively in shift environments under pressure, collaborate with diverse teams, and demonstrate a proactive problem-solving attitude with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
- Willing to work in Khormala and reside in Erbil, Iraq.
