Job Title: Performance and Thermodynamics Engineer Sales and R&D
Location: Lincoln,UK

A Snapshot of Your Day:
At Siemens Energy Industrial Turbomachinery Ltd in Lincoln, you will be part of a team that has been designing and manufacturing world-class gas turbines for over 50 years. Our turbines are used in the Oil and Gas Industry and Industrial Power Generation, with over 3300 units operating in 89 countries. Your day will involve contributing to our ongoing research and development efforts, aimed at improving efficiency, reducing emissions, and expanding fuel options. You will be working in a dynamic environment that has earned eight Queen’s Awards for Industry, focusing on various aspects of industrial power plant technology, including engineering, manufacturing, project management, and lifetime product support.

What You Bring:
Interpersonal and Communication Skills:
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, confident in communicating at all levels.
  • Flawless presentation and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences, including customers, management, and local R&D teams.
Technical and Analytical Skills:
  • Understanding of gas turbine simple cycle (basic to intermediate level).
  • Ability to perform basic thermodynamic calculations.
  • Experience with prediction modeling techniques and engine performance modeling activities.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with engineering software.
  • Outstanding investigative skills and proficiency in statistical analysis.
  • Experience with Visual Basic, FORTRAN, or C# programming is preferential, but any programming knowledge is beneficial.
  • Experience with the Thermoflow suite of performance modelling tools is advantageous.
Organisational and Problem-Solving Skills:
  • Strong organisational skills, including self-motivation and the ability to work unassisted.
  • Proven problem-solving skills (e.g., Kepner-Tregoe, Fault Tree Analysis, Ishikawa Diagrams).
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience in running or being part of a project team.
Experience and Education:
  • Evidence of activities carried out during graduate placements, previous job rotations, or university vacations that demonstrate initiative.
  • Previous experience in performance engineering is not essential, as all candidates will be assessed on merit.
  • This role is ideally suited to a junior engineer with strong data analysis skills, some software development skills, performance engineering knowledge, and general gas turbine familiarity.
