A Snapshot of your day

As a Master and Reference Data Management Specialist, you are part of our growing Data & Artificial Intelligence team within our Digital Core function, where we work together on supporting the wider needs and demands from the business, transforming the way we think of data and embedding data management in our key deliveries across all areas of the energy industry. In this fast-paced environment, you will assist your team in driving pragmatically and efficiently the effort to complete the documentation of master and reference data sources in the SE Data Catalog for all data domains. Enabling a clear inventory of data sources across the Siemens Energy data landscape, helping the Data Excellence and Data Governance team to identify opportunities for certification and harmonization; driving further our ambition to identify and declare authoritative data sources. In your role you will lead the implementation and embedding of Master Data Management best practices and the assurance processes to guarantee all master data and reference data are created and managed appropriated for the benefit of the enterprise.

How You’ll Make an Impact

You will be the leader expert for Master and Reference Data Management at Siemens Energy, leading a roadmap in service of identification of master and reference data sources and the processes to manage, certify and subscribe to them.

You will explain with confidence what master and reference data is, demonstrating your area of expertise by providing clear rationale and the supportive examples to help overcome conflicts on other people’s understanding and interpretation of data governance concepts

You will advise and guide the data governance roles in the identification of master and data reference data in their domains, developing their skills to achieve these tasks independently.

You will support the active documentation of master and reference data in the SE Data Catalog (Collibra), and develop the processes and materials so this task is performed effectively by the data governance roles

You will support and advice on best practice, and document requirements for the SE Data Catalog where new and/or enhancements to the existing capability to capture relevant metadata for master and reference data are required

You will support the creation of documentation and ‘how to’ guides that explain step by step how to execute the activities in service of Master and Ref Data Management, in alignment with the Data Management Enterprise Process

You will coach others, in particular key data governance roles, to confidently describe and own their master and reference datasets; helping and guiding them to use the SE data catalog successfully in the documentation and mapping of their sources.

You will support the testing and assurance of capability delivery in the SE Data Catalog in service of enabling the execution of the activities and processes that enable master and ref data management, including approval and maintenance of these assets in the catalog.

You will gather and document requirements on behalf of the Data Excellence team, so data or digital initiatives aimed to drive enterprise-wide data harmonisation, have the required functional requirements in scope for the adequate set up and management of master and reference data

You will analyse and test the effectiveness of existing and new MDM processes and controls, when any master and ref data is in scope of a digital initiative, contributing to the design, changes and implementation of such controls and processes, being pragmatic and hands on

You will gather lessons learnt and recommends how to improve our ‘ways of working’ with our domains, business and digital core colleagues, supporting the effort for a sustainable audit mechanism that proactively assures the progress made by the data governance roles; and helps them maintain high quality data and metadata
