A Snapshot of Your Day
The ASME Welder (3rd shift) is responsible for the welding, grinding, assembly, quality and inspection of a wide variety of parts for compressors and associated components. This position requires sound judgment in the selection of proper tips for welding or cutting, and in the selection of welding rods. The successful candidate will maintain ASME Code quality and produce x-ray quality welds. As a welder with Siemens-Energy you will be responsible for completing multiple part setups, welding and grinding the parts to completion for one of our critical part families!
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Weld and braze a variety of parts per ASME BPVC Division 1 Sections VIII and IX. Code stamp not required.
- Perform welding of steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel in positions 1G, 2G, and 3G; Follow established weld procedure specification (WPS) documents, including preheat, amps, volts, and gas coverage.
- Maintain operating condition of wire feeder, gas mixture and welding gun and/or torches
- Contour completed welds using a die grinder.
- Working from shop prints without instructions properly layout, mark, hand torch cut, prepare joints, fixture, and tack weld in place a variety of code and non-code work of the highest complexity
- Keep work area clean, orderly, and safe.
What You Bring
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED that can be verified.
- 1 -3 years welding experience using a variety of metals (ie. Aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel etc..) in a manufacturing environment is required; Must be willing to work 3rd shift and be flexible enough to work 1st or 2nd shift on occasion as business requires.
- Experience using burning and air arc equipment to repair defective part areas (such as blow and sand holes in cast steel.)
- Ability to SMAW or GTAW pipe in 6G position, and weld in flow channels using a mirror is strongly preferred; proficiency in oxyacetylene, electric welding, tungsten inert gas, mig welding, brazing, silver soldering, shrinking, or sweating is also preferred.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blueprints and have math skills to take precise measurements and make calculations.
- Be at a computer level of proficient to intermediate using Microsoft Office Suite is preferrable.
