A Snapshot of Your Day

This role is an addition to the Operational Excellence team within the Grid Technologies Substations business, created to ensure continuity and enhance strategic oversight and will be pivotal in standardizing and governing the execution of technical programs to drive efficiency and quality. To meet these objectives, the role is structured around three core areas: developing and implementing a strategic PMO framework, overseeing the entire program portfolio's performance and reporting, and driving continuous improvement and risk management. This approach ensures that a centralized, expert-led governance model is established to support complex engineering and substation projects. Given the focus on establishing new standards and communicating with leadership, the ideal candidate will be a recognized master in technical program management, with extensive experience in building PMO functions, managing portfolios in an engineering or energy sector, and applying methodologies like PMI to drive operational excellence.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Strategic PMO Framework & Governance 40%
    • Establish and implement operational plans for the technical PMO, including developing new processes, standards, and methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile).
    • Define and enforce program governance structures to ensure projects adhere to scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
    • Develop and maintain a central repository of project management templates, best practices, and training materials for project teams.
    • Act as the subject matter expert on program management, providing guidance and mentorship to project managers and communicating strategic plans to leadership.
  • Program Portfolio Oversight & Reporting 40%
    • Consolidate and analyze program data to provide comprehensive status reports on portfolio health, financials, and resource allocation to senior management.
    • Monitor dependencies and risks across multiple inter-related technical projects, identifying potential conflicts and facilitating resolutions.
    • Conduct audits and reviews of projects to ensure compliance with established PMO methodologies and governance standards.
    • Develop and manage dashboards using tools like Power BI to provide transparent, real-time insights into program performance for all stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement & Risk Management 20%
    • Lead change management initiatives to implement process improvements across the project lifecycle, based on analysis of program performance and lessons learned.
    • Establish and oversee a centralized program-level risk management process, including the identification, assessment, and mitigation of key risks.
    • Analyze business requirements and project outcomes to identify opportunities for enhancing operational excellence within the Substations business unit.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in technical project or program management within a complex industrial or engineering environment.
  • Proven track record of establishing and leading a PMO function, with deep expertise in program governance, portfolio management, and process optimization.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification - preferred
  • Experienced in end‑to‑end project & process management, including scoping, scheduling, workflow optimization, and the application of PMI methodology.
  • Strong governance, risk, and change management capabilities, ensuring project continuity, compliance, and effective issue mitigation.
  • Skilled communicator and influential stakeholder partner, with proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive alignment.
  • Proficient in key project tools, including Power BI and Microsoft Project, supporting data‑driven decisions and transparent reporting.
