A Snapshot of Your Day

You will support the Generator Design team within the Nacelle Engineering group, contributing to structural analysis activities for wind turbine generators. Your day will include developing calculation sheets, performing basic structural assessments, validating FEA results, and preparing documentation. You will work closely with senior engineers, gaining hands‑on exposure to real-world structural design challenges in large‑scale wind turbine components.

How You’ll Make an Impact
Structural Analysis & Calculation Support (70%)
  • Develop and maintain standardized calculation sheets for generator structural components.
  • Perform basic structural calculations (stress, strain, deflection, fatigue) under engineer guidance.
  • Support FEA validation by comparing simulation outputs with analytical checks.
  • Collect and process technical inputs such as loads, material data, and boundary conditions.
  • Apply core engineering concepts (Strength of Materials, Engineering Mechanics, Material Science, basic Thermodynamics & Heat Transfer).
  • Carry out manual engineering calculations independently.
  • Use basic Python/MATLAB scripting to create or automate simple calculation tools (added advantage).

Technical Documentation & Collaboration (30%)
  • Document methodologies, assumptions, and results through clear technical reports.
  • Present analysis findings to engineers for review.
  • Work with design engineers to understand component functionality and propose structural improvements.
  • Maintain organized records, version control, and structured documentation of all work.

What You Bring
Education
  • Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s/Master’s in Mechanical, Structural, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Academic projects or strong interest in structural analysis and renewable energy are highly valued.

Technical Skills
  • Good understanding of structural mechanics and engineering fundamentals.
  • Basic familiarity with FEA principles and ability to perform analytical calculations.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings, dimensioning, and GD&T.
  • CAD exposure (e.g., Siemens NX) is a plus.
  • Python/MATLAB scripting skills for engineering tasks (preferred).
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem‑solving mindset.

Behavioral Skills
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and structured thinking.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to engineering workflows.
  • Team‑oriented and collaborative.
