A Snapshot of Your Day

In this role, you will craft detailed Single and Three Line Diagrams for power generation and distribution systems, along with Protection and Metering Diagrams to ensure system reliability and compliance. Your day will be filled with advanced power system analyses using industry-standard software such as ETAP, SKM, and PSSE, focusing on critical assessments like Short Circuit, Load Flow, and Harmonic Analysis. Additionally, you'll execute Relay Settings, program protective relays, and prepare comprehensive specifications and bid evaluations for key electrical equipment. Regular site surveys to validate real-world conditions will also be part of your impactful contributions to our power system projects.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Design Power Generation and Distribution Single Line Diagrams, and Power Distribution Three Line Diagrams.
  • Design Protection and Metering Diagrams.
  • Perform Power System analysis (Short Circuit, Load Flow, Motor Starting, Harmonic Analysis, Protective Relay Coordination, Arc Flash, Transient Stability) using ETAP, SKM, Easy Power, PSSE, DigSilent Power Factory, and Matlab/Simscape.
  • Perform Relay Setting and programming for SEL, Siprotec, and/or Multilin protective relays.
  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications and bid evaluations for Power Transformers, MV and LV Switchgear, Motor Control Centers, Variable Speed Drives, Motors, Battery and Battery Charger, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, and Power Distribution Center/E-Houses.
  • Perform site surveys.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with courses in power systems and electrical machines.
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in power systems is highly preferred.
  • Experience in Heavy Industrial, Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Paper Mills, Cement, Steel, and/or Marine Vessel industries.
  • 8+ years of experience performing power system analysis using ETAP, SKM, Easy Power, Simscape, and/or PSSE. Those with more experience may be considered for a more senior level.
  • Knowledge of IEEE standards and electrical codes (NEC, IEC, NEMA, NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, UL); OSHA and MSHA regulation knowledge preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, along with good verbal and written communication skills, including study report writing.
Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers
