A Snapshot of Your Day

The Aftermarket Heavy Lift Technician is a specialized field service role focused on large-scale corrective maintenance for wind turbines. This position involves performing major component exchanges, such as gearboxes, generators, and blades, ensuring the long-term operational integrity of wind power assets. The technician will travel extensively to various sites to execute complex technical tasks, often in challenging environments including at-height and in confined spaces. Key responsibilities include diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues, executing heavy lift and large corrective projects according to engineering specifications, and ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently. The role involves coordinating with site teams, crane operators, and project managers to deliver on-time service operations. This technician will also contribute to the development and refinement of field procedures and best practices to enhance safety and operational effectiveness. The ideal candidate is an experienced wind technician with a proven track record in major component exchanges or turbine erection and decommissioning. They must be physically and mentally prepared to work at significant heights and in confined spaces. This role requires a high degree of independence, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to adhering to strict safety protocols and quality standards. Due to the nature of the work, the position requires the ability to travel up to 100% of the time. Relocation will not be offered for this role.

How You’ll Make an Impact

·         Perform major component exchanges, including gearboxes, blades, and generators.

·         Execute turbine erection and decommissioning projects as required.

·         Conduct complex technical maintenance and repair jobs on wind turbine systems.

·         Operate specialized tools and heavy equipment safely and effectively.

·         Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems independently.

·         Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support to customers and site teams, both onsite and remotely.

·         Interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and work instructions to guide repair activities.

·         Adhere strictly to all company and industry safety protocols (EHS), especially for work at heights and in confined spaces.

·         Ensure all work meets quality control standards and is documented accurately.

·         Participate in the development and improvement of field procedures and best practices.

·         Coordinate with site teams to ensure service operations are completed efficiently and on

·         OSHA 10/30 General Industry or Construction certification

·         GWO (Global Wind Organization) Basic Safety Training (BST) certification

·         GWO (Global Wind Organization) Advanced Rescue Training (ART) certification

·         Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) Certification

What You Bring

·         Highschool diploma or equivalent

  • Associate’s degree or Technical Certification in Wind Energy Technology, Electromechanical Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a wind technician, with demonstrated experience in major component exchanges or large corrective maintenance.
