Contract: Internship (IEFP)

Snapshot of your day:

As a recent graduate, this internship provides you a practical learning experience in a real work context, aiming for your future integration into the company. Through this internship, you will be able to enhance your technical and behavioral skills, by participating in projects that contribute to the energy transition and the reduction of carbon footprint, as well as becoming a qualified professional aware of the challenges and opportunities in the energy sector.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Assist in solution and system engineering of electrical projects (protection systems, generator excitation systems and special projects) down to detail, satisfying applicable international standards and customer requirements.
  • Support the Development of detailed integrated solutions to ensure the correct interface of the individual elements as a functioning unit.
  • Help defining products, components, and systems to be used and their electrical specifications.
  • Contribute to the development of basic and detail design and build project technical documentation (e.g.: single-line diagrams, protection tripping matrix, circuit diagrams, cabinet layouts, network diagrams).
  • Support software development using system specific software tools (e.g.: DIGSI, Digureg PC-Tool).
  • Support engineering studies such as short-circuit and power flow studies, protection coordination studies and dynamic studies using network planning software (e.g.: PSS Sincal).
  • Opportunity to participate in Factory Acceptance Testing activities.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering with specialization in Energy or Power Systems.
  • Eligible for the “+Talento” internship program of the Portuguese Institute of Employment and Professional Training (IEFP) and knowledge of the respective regulations.1
  • Basic knowledge of operation of conventional and renewable power plants (Hydro, Thermal, Industrial, Wind and Solar).
  • Knowledge about high voltage, medium voltage and low voltage three-phase power systems and electrical machines (synchronous generators, power transformers, asynchronous motors).
  • Understanding of electrical protection systems for Medium and High Voltage power systems, particularly in generator protection, transformer protection and MV switchgear.
  • Knowledge of static and/or brushless excitation equipment of synchronous generators is a plus.
  • Understanding of schematics for electrical protection systems and excitation systems (experience with EPLAN Electric P8 is a plus).
  • Passionate about engineering and design of electrical systems (circuit design, component sizing, electrical calculations and simulations, and software engineering).
  • Good interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficient in English, speaking and writing.
  • Attention to detail to ensure quality and accuracy in engineering work.
  • Critical thinking, analytical and good problem-solving skills.
