A Snapshot of Your Day
The role of Product Detail Design Team Lead is to schedule and coordinate the scope of assigned projects that flow through the product design drafting team. This position does not have direct reports but will lead various teams assigned per project requirements, including the coordination of daily activities. Partnership and communication is essential to this role. Equally relevant to this role, is the growth experience this position offers the successful applicant beyond just the Project Team Lead function. This position offers the applicant the ability to agree with the global Siemens-Energy TCP Organization and potentially expand their role.
The position reports directly to the Product Design Drafting Manager for the TCP Product line. This position can be located at the Siemens-Energy facility in Santa Barbara Brazil.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Project & Team Coordination: Lead drafting tasks for assigned projects, handle hours, attend kickoff/status meetings, and act as the main technical point of contact while setting a positive example for the team.
- multi-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Planning teams to resolve drawing issues and ensure accurate interpretation of user documentation.
- Process & Workflow Management: Follow corporate procedures and approval processes, including SAP and Globus workflows, and supply to data cleansing within the engineering network.
- Continuous Improvement: Support the development and refinement of design tools, product standards, and manufacturing practices related to turbomachinery.
- Support & Mentorship: Assist in training junior drafters and, when needed, help with interviewing and onboarding new team members.
- Safety & Compliance: Carry out to all safety protocols and complete required training, while supplying to the overall success of the product line through various support tasks.
What You Bring
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with experience in rotating machinery (e.g., centrifugal/screw/axial compressors, pumps, auxiliary systems); or Associate degree in Drafting (or equivalent) with experience in 2D/3D CAD and rotating machinery design. Candidates with more experience may qualify for a senior-level role.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in 2D/3D CAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and ERP systems (SAP and/or Oracle).
- Soft Skills: Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with strong communication skills. Able to collaborate across teams and levels of the organization with professionalism and tact.
- Work Style: Capable of working independently on sophisticated projects while also thriving in team environments. Well-organized, with shown time management and multitasking abilities.
- Travel: Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally on short notice (approx. 5–15%).
