The Commodity Manager position is an individual contributor role that provides strategic leadership for their assigned commodity within Siemens Energy.

How You’ll Make an Impact.

  • Global owner and responsible for direct and indirect (n-tier) spend at Indian supply base for assigned material field of Raw materials (steel, special alloyed pre-materials, copper, e-steel) and Machined Parts for all SE entities
  • Drive substitution of US/European specified material grades towards regionally available material grade standards
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Supply Chain Strategy with the target to establish & maintain an optimized, resilient, strong, highly competitive, innovative and sustainable regional / Indian supplier base
  • Be active part of the global Commodity Circles which includes alignment to cross-functional partners (e.g. Global Commodity Manager, Supplier Quality, Engineering, Cost Value Eng., Operative Procurement)
  • Ensure a resilient Supply Chain by identifying, mitigating and monitoring regional supply chain risks and using opportunities that may arise from changed situations
  • Drive sustainable product specific cost improvements, develop and implement material productivity measures and constantly scout & benchmark the regional supplier base
  • Establish and manage strategic relationships with regional suppliers: Strategic Supplier Segmentation, Supplier evaluation, Supplier development (roadmaps) and Communication
  • Define and implement negotiation concepts and strategies to enhance savings; negotiate framework agreementsDevelop and share specific regional supply market expertise (market trends, cost structure & development, etc.) & share with your internal collaborators to generate additional value (e.g. cost model development)

What you Bring

  • BE,/ B.Tech Mechanical, Supply Chain Management with minimum of 10 years’ collective experience working in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Sourcing, discipline, or similar function and having experience in managing the Forgings commodity (that includes steel, special alloyed pre-materials, copper, e-steel and machined partsfor India region supplier base.
  • Advanced knowledge of sourcing processes. Experience handling Long Term Contracts and negotiating complex terms and conditions.
  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and processes for assigned commodity. Excellent leadership skills and proven ability to lead change.
  • Experience using financial and data-driven techniques to make decisions.
  • Ability to influence through effective verbal and written communication skills; clearly and succinctly conveys information and ideas to individuals and groups. Good problem solving and decision-making skills, Leader, self-starter.
  • Can travel to 15% to 20% both domestically and internationally. Fluent In English.
  • SM or APICS Certified, Lean/Six Sigma experience, Multilingual language skills are a plus
  • Knowledge of Turbine & Turbomachinery Industry
