The Electrical, Instrumentation and Control - Software Engineer is responsible for the correct programming of diverse complex control systems and the related system interfaces for operating rotating equipment effectively, efficiently, and safely. The Software Engineer will have a thorough understanding of the organization, as the role includes multidisciplinary activities, working closely with colleagues around the world and across different functions including Application Leads, Project Management, Procurement, and other Engineering teams.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Based on given requirements and specifications the engineer will generate and troubleshoot PLC Code, HMI applications, defining also Modbus, OPC or DCS interfaces, configuration of Bently Nevada or other Vibration Monitoring Systems
- The Software Engineer will implement or troubleshoot Control application software for rotating equipment based on ability to read P&IDs, electrical diagrams (schematics, loop diagrams, etc.), technical manuals, among others.
- The Software Engineer will assist in reviewing and/or creating internal or project documentation, such as design documents, procedures, installation and commissioning guidelines, for this is required to have effective communication skills.
- Responsible for participating in the Handover to Software meeting, internal testing and Factory Acceptance Testing. Travel to Houston or other panel shop sites may be required for FAT.
- Software engineers often work under pressure, to meet tight deadlines and within budget, for this it’s required to be able and available to work around 5% of the time outside of regular hours supporting customers, attending remote meetings and testing, with a 5% travel/year expected
- The Software Engineer will be adaptable to change while keeping a high attention to detail, being able to switch between different control systems platforms on different projects with a high quality on the resulting software
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, computer science or controls engineering or similar.
- 10 years or more of experience with different control and automation software for compressors control and other rotating equipment.
- Software design and development experience on PLC (Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, Siemens, GE), HMI (Wonderware, WinCC, InduSoft, Factory Talk View ME and SE), while familiar with Woodward Micronet, Triconex and CCC software
- Strong team working skills, able to work independently, and self-taught
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written, both 1-1 and group situations.
- Creative problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
