Applications Engineer

Snapshot of your day

You will realize the functional concept of solutions in a project by technical detailed solutions. You will provide technical support to both External and Internal Stakeholders which will also include design work, associated CAD generated drawings and technical documents as required by the Company.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs and engineers the solution down to detail to satisfy the specified requirements of the customer
  • Defines the products, components and systems to be used and their concrete characteristics
  • Configures the components and systems of the solution according to the requirements
  • Develops detailed solutions for the integration to ensure the interaction of the individual elements as a functioning unit
  • Is responsible for the realization of the solution with the required functionality, prepares the design documentation

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure Section 3 of Group HSE Manual is adhered to daily for self and subordinates – see Section on Health and Safety
  • To support both internal and external Partners with technical enquiries for legacy and current Controls and Instrumentation products
  • To assist Customer Support with new product costing and compiling bid packages
  • To represent the company in technical meetings at client or supplier premises, exhibitions etc
  • Provide Desk Engineering support at customer premises, in the UK or abroad
  • Review and create compliance matrices’ against Operator/Customer specifications
  • Provide Technical support for Production, Purchasing, the Test department and fault/return investigations team
  • To produce CAD generated connector assembly and harness drawings
  • To produce detail designs to align with Company/Client specifications
  • To produce detail drawings, fabrication drawings, schematics and parts lists
  • To produce calculations and reports to support designs
  • To define and compile assembly procedures, tooling, installation procedures, FAT test procedures, test reports, technical data sheets and procurement specifications.
  • The position will be supported by a Senior Applications and Principal Engineers
  • To check drawings, documents and calculations generated by other members of the Operations Engineering team.

What you bring:

  • Good engineering skills (concept design, detail design, detail drawing, tolerance stack-up analysis, design review, etc)
  • Good knowledge of the basic principles of engineering with respect to mechanical systems (mechanical analysis, Forces, Moments, Stresses etc)
  • Ability to prioritise work load, multi-task, work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Self motivated, committed and flexible teammate
  • Good communication both written and verbal and confident to communicate at all levels internally and externally
  • Customer focused whilst maintaining the business directives
  • Awareness of the impact of your own behaviour on others and to modify your behaviour as appropriate to achieve results
  • To display tenacity and determination to accomplish tasks irrespective of obstacles
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
  • Provide Desk Engineering support at customer premises, in the UK or abroad.
  • To represent the company in technical meetings at client or supplier premises, exhibitions etc
  • To make quality decisions through evaluating all relevant data to reach a candid, logical and effective conclusion
  • To set high standards of performance for one’s self within pre-defined objectives
