A Snapshot of Your Day

This role is an addition to the Supplier Quality team for Blades & Vanes, driven by the team's extended responsibilities within the Gas Services business. this position is established to provide subject matter expertise and manage the increasing complexity of supplier quality, specifically for post-casting processes covering advanced thermal and environmental coating systems and technologies and non-conventional machining processes. To meet this need, the role is structured around three core areas: specialized supplier management focused on coating and machining technologies, proactive quality assurance and risk mitigation through established methodologies, and rigorous non-conformance management coupled with continuous improvement. This approach ensures both the qualification of capable suppliers and the ongoing performance of the existing supply base.

How You’ll Make an Impact

•50% Supplier Qualification & Technical Management (Coating & Machining)

•Lead technical audits and assessments to qualify, approve, and onboard new suppliers specializing in coating and machining processes for blades and vanes.

•Serve as the subject matter expert for all technical quality aspects related to coating and machining, providing guidance to both suppliers and internal engineering teams.

•Manage and develop the strategic supplier portfolio for these commodities, driving performance improvements to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.

•Define and implement specific quality requirements and inspection criteria for components involving complex coating and machining operations.

•30% Proactive Quality Assurance & Risk Mitigation

•Deploy Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions for new and revised components from suppliers.

•Conduct supplier risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to prevent supply chain disruptions and quality escapes.

•Monitor supplier performance using key metrics and statistical process control (SPC) data, initiating corrective action plans as required.

•Coach suppliers on quality standards, manufacturing best practices, and the use of quality tools to foster a culture of prevention.

•20% Non-Conformance Management & Continuous Improvement

•Lead investigations into complex supplier quality issues and non-conformances, utilizing structured problem-solving methods like 8D and Root Cause Analysis.

•Ensure the effective implementation and verification of supplier corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.

•Identify and lead continuous improvement projects with suppliers to enhance process capability, reduce variation, and improve overall product quality.

What You Bring

•Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.

•Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in supplier quality, quality engineering, or manufacturing, with a demonstrated focus on special processes such as coating and machining.

•Experience working in a global manufacturing environment and managing projects with limited oversight.

•Recognized experience in supplier quality for special manufacturing processes. 

•A strong background in metallurgy, coating processes and development of new suppliers and technologies as well as root cause analysis, and project management, supported by a relevant engineering degree, is essential for success in this complex role.

•Certifications : Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification , ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification
