Over de functie
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be taking care of the design and development of medium‑ to large‑scale steel structures, tools, and equipment used across lifting, transportation, pre‑assembly, and installation of wind turbine components. Your day will involve conceptualizing robust mechanical solutions, performing load‑path and rigging evaluations, validating designs through preliminary FEM, and creating detailed drawings using Siemens NX.
You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, follow PLM and quality processes meticulously, and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality engineering outputs. Ownership, accountability, and proactive communication will be central to your success.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Design and develop medium to large steel structures, including bolted, welded, and sheet‑metal assemblies.
- Develop concepts and perform load calculations, load‑path evaluations, rigging analyses, and preliminary FEM validations.
- Create 2D drafts for sheet‑metal, weld‑fabrication, and assembly drawings of wind turbine components using Siemens NX.
- Manage BOM creation, Material Master data, and define inspection specifications as per internal processes.
- Ensure effective integration with PLM processes through Teamcenter, maintaining traceability and documentation quality.
- Apply GD&T/GPS standards and perform tolerance stack‑up analyses for mechanical components and assemblies.
- Contribute to DFMEA and design risk assessments during product development and engineering reviews.
- Support design improvements and optimization for manufacturing, transportation, installation, and service needs.
- Work collaboratively within the team to ensure on‑time delivery with 100% quality, even under high‑pressure situations.
What You Bring
- Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of total experience, including 3+ years in the Wind Industry (preferred).
- Strong background in designing medium/large steel structures and mechanical assemblies.
- Experience with lifting, transportation, pre‑assembly, and installation tools/equipment for wind turbines (added advantage).
- Proficient in designing bolted, welded, and sheet‑metal structures.
- Hands‑on experience in load calculations, rigging calculations, and basic FEM validations.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX for 2D drafting and assembly drawings.
- Solid working knowledge of Teamcenter PLM, GD&T/GPS, and tolerance stack‑up.
- Understanding of DFMEA and design risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong communication skills and ability to deliver high‑quality work under pressure.
- A self‑motivated, self‑driven individual with an ownership mindset, openness, and willingness to speak up and contribute.
About the Team
You will join a dynamic, collaborative engineering team working on critical mechanical components and structures used across the wind turbine value chain.
