A Snapshot of Your Day
The PFS Engineer supports the Product Field Service organization by providing engineering support and high level technical advice with regards to transmission and distribution power transformers including but not limited to; technical evaluations/recommendations, emergency response, issue resolution, transformer repairs including repair plans/recommendations, failure-forensic investigations, root cause analysis, testing, fault response, asset evaluation, investigations, technical report writing, and support improvement processes. The PFS Engineer will act as an authority (SME) jointly working with all relevant entities in the company as well as providing services to customers.
May require some travel and non-standard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Provide engineering support across all phases of transformer service projects including technical evaluations, issue resolution, and emergency responses.
- Conduct failure-forensic investigations and develop repair plans and recommendations.
- Engage in testing, fault response, asset evaluation, and technical report writing.
- Collaborate with team members to offer technical support to customers, repair shops, and field services.
- Assist in the development of proposals and responses to RFP/RFQ, and prepare final project or repair reports.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards in repair activities and customer expectations.
- Provide onsite support during transformer internal inspections, ensuring comprehensive data collection for analysis and reporting.
- Develop and implement standard processes for transformer repair and maintenance.
- Regularly review and interpret test data for accuracy and detailed reporting.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and promote a safety culture consistent with company standards
What You Bring
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with over 10 years’ experience in transformer design, rewind, maintenance, repair, testing, and solving.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in technical assembly, maintenance, and repair of power and distribution transformers and accessories within the utility/energy electrical industry.
- Expert-level skills in Transformer Electrical Testing, solving, and interpreting results.
- Proficient in high, medium, and low voltage substation equipment.
- Capable of analyzing transformer factory test reports and performing various transformer-related calculations.
- Skilled in advanced diagnostic assessments and root cause analysis with a tried ability to develop technical solutions.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Solid Works, or similar for component part drawings.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce detailed technical analysis and reports.
- Proficient in MS Office, Adobe Pro, and other relevant software.
- Ability to obtain a US Passport and DOD Security Clearance.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time, possibly including international travel.
