A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)

Siemens Energy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Excitation Field Service Engineer to join our Controls Group based in Alpharetta, GA! The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting services for excitation systems in power plants and industrial facilities. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, hands-on experience with excitation systems, and the ability to work independently in the field!

How You’ll Make an Impact (responsibilities)

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure efficient performance and reliability of excitation systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to excitation systems, including hardware and software components.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers and end-users on the operation and maintenance of the excitation systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and implement solutions for sophisticated technical challenges.
  • Prepare detailed service reports, technical documentation, and manuals for both customer and internal use.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and regulations during all field service activities.
  • Stay ahead of with industry trends, standard processes, and advancements in excitation technology.

What You Bring (requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in field service engineering, preferably focused on excitation systems.
  • Experience with Siemens Energy excitation systems or similar products is a plus.
  • Knowledge of power generation, control systems, and power plant operations.
  • Proven experience with the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the excitation systems.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, test equipment, and software for excitation systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in the field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to optimally interact with customers and team members.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites, both domestically and internationally.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to secure necessary travel documentation.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
