役割について
A Snapshot of Your Day
You will support the Controls Forward Engineering & Support team by developing technical solutions for Modernisation & Upgrade (Mods & Ups) opportunities within the Gas Services division. The SGT Mods & Ups (M&U) Engineering Team is responsible for delivering upgrades across the installed base of small gas turbine packages.
The role focuses on pre-sales engineering, where you analyze RFQs, design control system solutions, and ensure technically sound and commercially viable proposals. You will act as a subject matter expert in control systems for turbomachinery, solving complex engineering challenges while collaborating closely with sales, project, and execution teams.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Analyze customer RFQs and define technical requirements for control system modifications and upgrades and supporting the Sales team during tendering activities.
- Develop technical concepts, system architectures, and proposal documentation for controls and electrical solutions.
- Prepare bespoke technical proposals, cost estimations/calculation sheets and support tendering activities with detailed technical inputs
- Proactive identification of obsolescence and development of upgrade solutions
- Execution of retrofit upgrade projects
- Identify replacement/spare parts for legacy and existing systems (service support)
- Support new product design, testing, and validation (Research & Development)
- Investigate faults and define engineering solutions; perform fleet impact analysis (Quality & Reliability)
- Product Lifecycle Management - Identify product obsolescence risks, assess fleet-wide impact, develop and issue obsolescence bulletins
- Provide technical expertise for customer-specific issues - Customer Support
- Drive process improvements in tendering workflows, tools, and engineering practices
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
- Provide subject matter expertise and troubleshooting support for complex control engineering challenges
- Collaborate with sales, project management, and execution teams to ensure smooth handover from tendering to execution
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to capability development within the team
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, Instrumentation, or related engineering discipline
- 10+ years of experience in control systems design and engineering, preferably in power generation or turbomachinery
- Experience in tendering, application engineering (Rockwell Automation Hardware and Software - 1734 Point IO, ControlLogix PLCs, Studio 5000/RSLogix; Siemens hardware and software - S7 400/1500, ET200SP, ET200M, PCS7/Step7; HMI/SCADA systems - WinCC, TIA Portal, Intouch, FactoryTalk), industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, modbus, controlnet, devicenet for example) or forward engineering roles is highly desirable
- Strong expertise in control systems design and engineering processes
- Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles and product requirements (Low voltage Distribution Systems, Motor control systems, battery chargers and UPS systems, high voltage AC generator control and protection, hazardous area systems and compliance)
- Experience in troubleshooting complex engineering problems
- Proficiency with tools such as AutoCAD and engineering design systems
- Strong analytical and investigation skills
- Experience in quality assurance, process improvement, and workflow management
- Ability to conduct technical risk assessments and ensure compliance standards (Hazardous area standards-IECEx, BS EN/IEC 60079, Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU), Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC), CE marking requirements, BS 7671 (IEE wiring regulations))
- Advantageous to have understanding about North American hazardous area standards, functional safety standards (IEC 61508/IEC 61511 (SIL)) and industrial cyber security (IEC 62443)
- Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to collaborate across teams and functions in a global environment
