A Snapshot of your Day:

Siemens Energy is looking for a highly motivated, multi-skilled, mechanical engineer with experience in Structural Integrity and Aeromechanics to lead and support new and existing designs. The position will consist of modeling methodology development, testing and validation, assisting internal and external vendors and definition of new design geometries driven by simulation. 

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Planning, developing, and implementing gas turbine mechanical integrity and lifing technologies
  • Improving and automating mechanical integrity modeling techniques
  • Developing advanced damping methods for turbine blades and validation approach
  • Developing enhanced flutter and forced response methods and validation approach
  • Component mechanical integrity evaluations, including LCF, HCF, TMF and Creep
  • Coordination of work packages with required interface teams in matrix organization
  • Preparation of Engineering documents and presentation of technical results
  • Ensuring overall success of design projects for time, cost and quality       

 

What You Bring

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or related field
  • Advance knowledge and strong background in mechanical integrity, aeromechanics and fluid-structure interaction
  • Experience in gas turbine industry or turbomachinery applications
  • Experience in CAD modeling, mesh generation and defining boundary conditions in NX, ANSYS, Simcenter 3D, etc.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience (Ansys, Abaqus, or similar)
  • Experience with fatigue and creep modeling or fracture mechanics
  • Strong desire to learn, and ability to perform literature reviews
  • Highly motivated, proactive and self-directed
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • 3 years’ experience in gas turbine industry
  • Programming experience (Matlab, Python, C/C++, JAVA, Linux, etc.)
  • Proven track record of validating simulations against real-world experimental data

 

Gas Services

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
