- Drive efficient and robust U.S. import & export custom clearance procedures. Executing continuous improvement to standardize processes and develop best practices.
- Directly supervises, mentors, develops, and assists the SE U.S. customs operations team members in the day-to-day import and export activities.
- Selection, instruction, and monitoring customs broker activities. Ensure the designated customs broker maintains compliance and exercises reasonable care in filing SE U.S. customs declarations. Implement U.S. customs broker compliance monitoring through metrics and broker scorecards.
- Support the development and implementation of SOPs and trainings for U.S. customs brokers and operations team.
- Develop strong partnerships with SE U.S. business areas, communicating with functions across the organization regarding all transactional operational import and export activities.
- Drive financial optimization through compliant use of special U.S. customs programs such as Temporary Import Bonds (TIB), Chapter 98 and Carnets. Management of the U.S. Customs Value Reconciliation program.
- Bachelor's Degree—preferably in International Business or related field, Tax, or Finance. 8+ years of extensive experience in customs/international trade compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of 19 CFR.
- U.S. Customs broker license or similar certificate is required. Customs Brokerage management experience is a plus.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. People Management and leadership experience.
- Ability to collaborate with all levels within the organization to develop and deploy effective solutions and broader strategies. Ability to work independently. Strong written and verbal communication / interpersonal skills along with Presentation skills!
- Hands-on experience in streamlining and digitization of manual processes. Project skills; including analytics, implementation strategies, metric measurement and continuous monitoring expectations and deliverables. Global Trade Management technology/ERP experience such as: SAP (GTS or GTM) or other global trade management software.
