The Systems Development Engineer at Siemens Energy will proactively engage in continuous professional development and internal growth opportunities. They will develop a clear understanding of manufacturing equipment, processes, and customer needs, both internal and external. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to create practical software solutions, delivering software and hardware aspects of equipment development projects, and generating necessary documentation. The engineer will also focus on process improvements, identifying bottlenecks, and assisting in business improvement initiatives. Effective communication, a background in relevant engineering fields, and proven software development experience are essential.

- Business & Equipment Knowledge: Develop a clear understanding of our manufacturing equipment and processes and our customers both internal and external.
- Innovation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate ideas into practical software solutions, ensuring seamless integration of appropriate systems.
- Technical Responsibility: Deliver software (and associated hardware) aspects of equipment development projects. Generate software packages, complete commissioning plans and associated set-to-work documentation.
- Process & Improvements: Understand, learn, and follow our department processes. Adopt a continuous improvement mindset, identify process bottlenecks and areas for optimisation. Assist in business improvement initiatives when requested.
- General - Ensure all tasks are performed in compliance with relevant processes. Proactively identify opportunities for improvement. Represent the company in technical meetings when requested.
- Control System Design - Develop detailed control system / software solutions to ensure the interaction of the individual elements as a functioning unit. Apply engineering principles to solve problems that meet internal customer technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements. Create commissioning and technical documentation where necessary. Liaise with other developers (IT and Production Engineering) to improve applications and establish best practices.
- Data Handling - Design of appropriate reporting applications for retrieving data from an SQL database using either Windows / Web Applications.
- Reliability and Maintenance – To deploy and maintain reliable software and hardware solutions to minimise downtime of business-critical equipment.
What You Bring
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
- A background in Automation, Electrical or Software Engineering, IT or Computer Science.
- Ability to understand complex problems and apply logical methodologies to find solutions.
- Proven experience in software development.
