Strategic Growth & Partnering Leader at Siemens Energy
Your day is dedicated to development of South Africa dedicated strategy, secure its diligent implementation, monitor key trends and developments in local and regional energy sector, and provide recommendations to local and regional leadership for sustained growth of the business. Your morning starts with a review of the latest relevant trends and developments in South Africa and/or Southern Africa and a subsequent update to the country-strategy. By noon you will meet with regional Business Area representatives to understand the implementation status of the key milestones that are due by end of the week. During the afternoon you will develop and present a set of new recommendations and initiatives to the country MD, in coordination with other Hub and Global Functions (e.g., Finance, Government Affairs). Before close of business, you will provide an update to the Regional leadership team and prepare the contents an Executive Board Member visit on the following week.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Deliver trusted market, competitor, and customer insights across the Siemens Energy portfolio by synthesizing external market research, analyst reports, regulatory trends, competitor strategies, customer intelligence, and internal operational data.
- Shape and advance corporate and regional strategy, translating global strategic priorities into regional execution, supporting company wide strategy processes, and acting as a thought partner to senior leadership and the Managing Director.
- Identify, develop, and scale new business opportunities, including bringing existing solutions into new markets and industries, and introducing new products, services, or business models to existing and emerging customers.
- Lead end to end new growth opportunity identification, with accountability for performance, including business case development, financial and operational planning, and execution in collaboration across BAs, divisions, and functions.
- Identify and activate ecosystem enablers, including cross divisional synergies, white spot opportunities, partnerships, alliances, investments, M&A opportunities, and external technology sourcing to create sustainable competitive advantage.
- Monitor in-country localization and local content requirements and identify strategic implications for the Siemens Energy business in South Africa, and integrate with country strategy and implementation roadmap.
- Lead executive level communications and influence, including development of senior management and board level presentations, external positioning and thought leadership initiatives, and championing strategy execution through strong stakeholder alignment
What You Bring
- 10+ years of industry experience, including 7+ years in strategy and business development within the South African energy market, with demonstrated expertise across energy consultancy, market research, investment banking, or similar environments.
- Deep energy sector knowledge spanning Oil & Gas, industrial applications, generation technologies, transmission products and services, utilities, and alternative, clean, and distributed energy solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with an MBA.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with experience in start up environments and/or end to end offering development, from concept through commercialization.
- Strong strategic and execution capabilities, including business, financial, and operational planning, with a proven ability to translate strategy into launched business solutions.
- Advanced proficiency in business tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and analytics/visualization tools (e.g., Think Cell, Efficient Elements, Tableau, Power BI).
