A Snapshot of Your Day
As the Senior for Processes and Quality in Global Classification, you will act as a subject matter expert, driving the standardization and optimization of customs processes across the organization. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and internal control programs, with a primary focus on enhancing the quality and efficiency of our customs operations.
Your core responsibilities will include the evaluation, planning, and documentation of customs processes, particularly concerning tariff classification for Mexico and LATAM countries. You will define and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through internal audits and spot checks to maintain high standards of quality and compliance. A key part of your role will be creating and communicating relevant guidelines and providing expert oversight to operational customs teams.
You will serve as a critical interface between the business, internal stakeholders (such as Logistics, Engineering, Procurement, Tax, and Sales), and internal customs team members. This position requires close collaboration with regulatory colleagues to manage customs audits and resolve complex procedural issues, making you a central point of contact for all process-related and substantive customs inquiries.
How You’ll Make an Impact
• Standardize and optimize customs processes across the region, aligned to the Internal Control Program (ICP), to improve consistency and compliance.
• Re-engineer customs workflows (with a strong focus on tariff classification) to increase efficiency and reduce cycle time and rework.
• Define, monitor, and report meaningful KPIs, using audits and spot checks to drive measurable quality improvements.
• Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate customs compliance risks—especially misclassification risk—through corrective and preventive actions.
• Act as the regional interface and trusted advisor for stakeholders (Logistics, Engineering, Procurement, Tax, Sales) and support audit readiness and responses.
What You Bring
• Deep expertise in customs and foreign trade compliance (import/export, AEO, preferences) with strong judgment on risk and controls.
• Strong tariff classification capability for Mexico and LATAM, including understanding the operational and financial implications of misclassification.
• Proven process modeling, analysis, and documentation skills—translating complex requirements into clear, usable guidelines.
• Data-driven quality mindset: experience defining KPIs, running audits/spot checks, and turning findings into sustainable improvements.
• Stakeholder leadership and communication skills to influence cross-functional teams and guide operational customs/classification teams.
