Job Profile - Senior Operational Engineer

Location - Euro Tunnel complex Folkestone, CT18 8XX (On-site role)

Coordinating and managing the people, activities & projects delivered within the designated team


What are my responsibilities?

  • Ensure the team can meet its support and contractual obligations for all of the scheduled & reactive maintenance, after-sales, service & warranty activities that the team provide
  • Liaison with Engineering teams in the UK, Germany etc. for escalation of issues where external support is required
  • Assume line management responsibility for all the technicians and engineers within the team
  • Regular liaison with project management & stakeholders to report on progress, clarify requirements and raise early warnings of project issues
  • Ensure that team members have the required tools and equipment to carry out their work, and that it’s fit for purpose when used (calibrated, etc.)
  • Ensure all team members have appropriate training, certification, and competencies to carry out the jobs assigned
  • Regular reviews of all open support cases that the team are working on, driving resolutions and closeouts to our backlog, and removing blockers to completing works (chasing outages with Customers, etc.)
  • Provide time/material input to the proposals/bid team, with accurate forecasts of effort and skills required to deliver proposed work
  • Commitment to Siemens Energy initiatives including excellent call handling and voice mail skills
  • Abide by all business compliance requirements in line with Company policies
  • Maintenance management and resource planning and provision 
  • Investigate and rectify faults and prepare, where necessary, reports to comply with QA and customers’ requirements.
  • Interpret test and inspection reports and initiate appropriate action
  • Safe disposal of equipment in line with company and customer guidelines 
  • Spare parts management and control 
  • Liaise with stakeholders on asset related topics 
  • Comply with asset policies regarding health, safety, environment, and security provisions 
  • Prepare business cases for asset related activities
  • Development of recommendations for acquisitions, process improvements and replacement of internal assets
  • Ensure all direct reports are allocated to jobs with correct training, competencies to allow work to be completed
  • Ensure that all people that you are responsible for are set to work in compliance with company policies
  • Ensure all jobs are ran in the same format in line with PM@Siemens Energy and O&M project folder guidance
  • Asset Management Planning – apply life costing principles, business case for assets, contingencies, AM Plans
  • Implementing Asset Management Plans – take responsibility for assets, control operations, maintain / optimize assets
  • Complete weekly time sheet for monitoring workload
  • Risk Management and Performance improvement – assess and manage risks, assure quality of AM processes, 
  • Monitor and review progress and performance, review, and audit compliance, learn from incidents
  • Ensure integration of AM system requirements into the organization’s business processes
  • Asset Knowledge Management - define asset requirements, specify, select, and integrate AM information systems, 
  • make AM information available for decision making
  • Ensure the AM system supports delivery of the SAMP and project AMP
  • Ensure all information is entered into the Asset Management System
  • Direct and support people to contribute to the effectiveness of the AM system
  • Promote cross functional collaboration with the organization
  • Promoting continual improvement
  • Undertake all relevant training and practical experience to progress to Senior Authorised Person under the Siemens Energy safety rules and maintain that authorization.
  • Undertake all relevant training and practical experience as required under other customers/sites for their high voltage safety rules and maintain that authorization.
  • Ensure all project related Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements are met
  • Take part in a 24/7 365day per year standby rota and provide flexible support whenever possible to support others  who are on call (if required)


Your Profile

Qualifications
  • Formal qualification to HNC level desirable but not essential
  • Authorisation under HV safety rules desirable but not essential


Experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working within a maintenance environment on industrial sites or electrical substations
  • IT Literacy (MS Office including MS Project etc.)
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate evidence of successful organisational skills
  • Demonstrate evidence of successful team working abilities
  • Demonstrate evidence of understanding of H & S legislation and Risk Management Processes
