Join Our Team as a Senior Gas Turbine Core Design Engineer!
About the role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Gas Turbine Core Design Engineer to join our team in Kongsberg, Norway. This role will be instrumental in the innovation, development, and enhancement of our 2MW SGT-50 gas turbine package, with the goal of establishing it as a leading, state-of-the-art solution in power generation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead core design and development of the SGT-50 gas turbine, aligning with both immediate and strategic business objectives.
- Drive the evolution of the SGT-50 Gas Turbine in order to become a top-performing power generation solution in targeted market segments.
- Stay at the forefront of gas turbine technology advancements to ensure our products meet the highest industry standards.
- Engage with key stakeholders including government agencies, customers, and partners to align product development with business goals.
- Facilitate discussions with customers, suppliers, and government entities to gather requirements, negotiate terms, and ensure regulatory adherence.
- Represent the company at technical events, showcasing our product innovations and developments.
What you can contribute with
A Gas Turbine Core Design Engineer should possess a mix of technical expertise, practical experience, and soft skills to effectively contribute to the design and development of gas turbine systems. Here are some key skills and knowledge areas that are important for this role:
- In-depth understanding of aerodynamics as it pertains to gas turbine performance and compressor/turbine blade design.
- Advanced knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer principles specific to gas turbine operation and cycle efficiency.
- Expertise in combustion engineering, including combustion chamber design, fuel injection systems, and flame stabilization.
- Proficiency in materials science, including an understanding of superalloys, coatings, and cooling technologies that improve turbine durability and performance.
- Capacity to perform detailed thermodynamic and aerodynamic performance calculations for optimizing core design.
- Expertise in using advanced simulation and modeling tools for predicting and enhancing system performance and reliability.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and optimization of gas turbine cores, including compressors, combustors, and turbines.
- Knowledge of rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing techniques applicable to gas turbine component development.
- Proficiency in technical writing for the preparation of patents, research papers, and technical bids in addition to standard reports and presentations.
- Detailed knowledge of global energy policies, aerospace standards (such as AS9100), and specific regulations governing the design and operation of gas turbines in different sectors.
- Rigorous validation and verification of design parameters and performance metrics against stringent industry benchmarks.
Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a specialized area related to gas turbine or aerospace engineering is highly desirable and may be preferred for advanced roles.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience in gas turbine design and development. Hands-on experience with the design, testing, and analysis of gas turbine components.

Strategic thinking, effective prioritization, and innovative problem-solving skills are essential for enhancing efficiency and reducing emissions in gas turbine design. Engagement with the scientific community through conferences, workshops, and publications is also important to stay updated on the latest research and technological advancements in gas turbine technology.
